Puel looks like a rabid dog! He wants to be out on the pitch.

it’s his own fault, playing kallstrom on at the back instead of, say, a defender or at LEAST defensive midfielder. next we’ll see benzema back there.

Time of possesion: 58% Lyon to 42% Fiore. Shots: More than double the shots and almost double the shots on goal, Lyon. Saves: Lyon 4 Fiorentina 8.

I think Reveillere could be a left defender and Makoun – right… it’s seems better that using Kallstrom in defence…

We gave up those two points because we “didn’t need to recruit” another side back.

They arent being cheap. Its Puel’s fault for not demanding to Aulas to get him one.

if as a result of this game Fred will become our 4th striker and Boumsong will be out by January it was all worth it.
Ederson was brilliant, Govou invisible, and Benzema was our number one man as usuall.
such a shame, could and should of been such an easy match, wonder what Puel has to say for benching Cris and Mensah…

and on a slight different note, why did Pjanic stop playing? seems like Mounier gets all his playing time now

Ederson and Piquionne brought so much energy into the game. Man of the match: Benzema: 1 assist and 1 goal.

Lefutur: to be fair, they did try to bring in Oddo, but after that fell apart, I don’t know that there was really anyone else.

    WOW!

So I had to step out for the last ten minutes, so I missed Benzema’s goal. Laurie’s right, this does feel like a win.

Lyon were far superior to Fiorentina, and had we had a working defense, this game would have been a walk in the park.

If Benzema is going to play with any Brazilian up front, it has to be Ederson. Toulalan was also fantastic, had a couple of shots that could have been goals.

So we need to sort out our defensive issues because next game will be against the likes of Toni, Ribery, and Klose.

I feel the biggest mistake was benching Cris when Boumsong has had no playing time this season. And the fact that Bodmer plays in central defense for the second season in a row speaks volumes about how Aulas and co. havent learned from last years mistakes. Every year OL have a defensive injury crisis and yet Aulas is always tight with the purse strings and he can never pass up an opportunity to sell our players.

Lloris was great! He had several great saves. Reveillere was solid, played mostly defense; no troulbe on the right side of the defense. Boumsong made alot of horrible clearences. He looked completely nerve-wracked even handling the ball on the simplest of plays. Bodmer was ok. Kallstrom… the poor guy is out of his universe at LB. He gave up the two crosses that led to Gilardino heading-in two goals. Toulalan was fantastic! He’s moving up the field and becoming an offensive threat. He took two cracking shots on goal that were bullets. Luckily for Frey, the shots were always close to his body. Makoun was good in the first half, pushing the ball up out of the midfield. Juninho started out at a furious pace, but was exhausted from the Nice game and fizzled out towards th 30th minute. His exhaustion showed in the inacuracy of his freekicks. Gouvou didn’t show up today. Benzema was good at LWF, but couldn’t connect with Fred. Benz became invaluable at the end of the game, with one goal and one assist. Fred…what is there to say about his royal laziness? Invisible. It’s ashame the crown didn’t beat him up. Piquionne: brought lots of energy out on the right wing and scored the first goal. Ederson was like a storm: I think he ignited an offense that was stalling before and after halftime. He was the 2nd best player of the match. He helped push the ball up the left side; Lyon didn’t move the ball well up the flanks. He also set-up the Benzema assist to Piquionne that gave Lyon the momentum. And Mounier came on in the 90th + minute. Anyway, that’s my take on the game.

poor defensive display. get cris and mensah on otherwise bayern will destroy us. you can tell bodmer doenst know how to play centre back. Kallstrom and Bodmer should be where they belong in midfield.either gassama or tht new left back timothee … should be at LB.We need keita back to give us more thrust. If we dont this we can forget about the champions league. the english clubs will most likely dominate again.

Sorry i didnt post earlier, i was defending Lyons honor on another page.

I didnt get to see the game ( school officially sucked today for it ), but im eager to see if theres a torrent i might get to see it.

From what i heard Fred was dreadful today, which isnt a surprise, cause he has this thing about facing Italian teams. im also surprised that we’re not using Ederson more, and im not surprised that govou didnt play well.

Hopefully we get this and DEFENSIVE players in when we face Bayern, Bodmer and Moumsong aint it.

Anybody have some inside information on why Cris and Mensah were benched? There must be a good reason because if everybody is healthy and ready to go, there is no way both Boumsong and Bodmer are starting.

BTW, I feel like Bodmer must really regret his move to Lyon given how much time he’s been asked to spend at the CB position. Seems like a waste of his talent.

theres a rumour going on that mensah was pulled over by police a day before the game. dont know the merit of the rumour, but it does seem fishy, as 50% cris and mensah would have been better than boum and bodmer.

It’s actually true, Lyon have confirmed it.

What happened was that Mensah was pulled over by the police Monday night, though he wasn’t speeding or breaking any traffic laws. There was some miscommunication because Mensah doesn’t know French, and because of that, he was arrested and forced to spend the night in jail. Lyon were really pissed off, and some Ghanaian media are accusing the French police of brutality. No word yet if Lyon will take further action on Mensah’s unjust imprisonment (cause the police admitted that he had done nothing wrong besides not knowing French). He showed up for practice the next day, but he was obviously shaky, hence Lyon officially saying he had a sore throat to spare him undue attention from the press. Puel wasn’t sure about starting him because he was not fully recovered from the incident.
