things look bleak but there is a chance for lyon to cause an upset at old trafford! lyon played fantastic today, and i believe they will play harder with much more determination in the second leg because they haven’t got much to lose there. if ben arfa starts and cris is fully fit to play, i really do believe so. and if benzema is on top form that day, well we say bye bye to manchester united.

“Before the game, it was 0-0. Now, it’s 1-1, and that puts us on the verge of elimination. This is a worse position.”- isnt it great to see the encouragement for the next leg by perrin, hay ?

oh shit, anyone seen sky sports news today? there’s a clip after the game with houllier talking to ferguson in one of the tunnels and and briefly it would appear, with benzerma. i know ferguson speaks french, he conducted some of the Lille post match conference in french but it was ropey. the clip Sky showed was short so it’s impossible to read anything into it and benzama is still in his kit and leaves pretty quickly as though he’s just said hello ands ‘good game’ or something, but still, it totally worries me. this is what ferguson does when he wants a player, he gets in their head, tries to sell them a vision and plant doubt about their current club. he’s notorious in england for this kind of thing.

maybe i’m paranoid, and i’m certainly not suggesting houllier was mediating for ferguson (it was probably uncomfortable for) although the two are friends, and i sincerely believe benzema won’t go to england but gaaaah, it just irks me too see ferguson who’s already made clear his interest in benzema chatting to him, however shitty his french is.

anyway, if the clip doesnt get pinned to youtube by some united fanboy it can be seen on sky sports news when they look at the game last night.

Well maybe its good news Benzema choose not to speak for a long time. How nice to give the cold shoulder to Ferguson.

Another worrying post match development is that Man U have asked for an investigation into an apparent per game laser attack on Ronaldo.

it seems that if the clip is true and the rumours of Houllier is true, than he is quickly burning bridges with Lyon. Im would greatly dissapointed if it was true, and it would make me hate Ser Al more.

and as far as the laser thing goes, it happened only once and it had to do with Cristiano Ronald, so it really shouldnt be that important. Plus, it probably wont happen again.

Everyone seems to think clerc was for ronaldo, as far as I saw it Toulalan was all over him, everytime ronaldo got near the box he was the one with the tackles to shut him down…that and the crowd booing at him every time he got the ball. Clerc came back to help midfield and the right wing, and played pretty well up front, more constructive than ben arfa tonight anyway, it would have been two nil if he had of tapped it off to benzema after dribbling through half the team.

i agree with rougebleu, clerc did very well with where he was today, i saw him as being an defensive and offensive presence. His pace and crossing skills in the first half was great in my opinion. Unfortunately, he’ll have to go back to be a SB next leg, but it gives Ben Arfa a chance to come up big next game.

Man killer late goal, i honestly was more worried about this game then the one at OT. AWAY goals are killer, but now lyon have a chance 2 get the away goals. We need to get atleast 1 even if we concede 1 were still fine.Lyon went too ibrox and stuttgart and won by more then 1 in each game and also kept a clean sheat. We are not a weak away team like lisbon and the others. If this was chelsea i would be worried, but manu is beatable at OT as city showed us and the world was watching that game. We have lots of chances 2-2 were through 1-1 we can win on penalties. Also if we just win were through and lyon is a team that wins alot.

i doubt benzema would go to manchester. he’s already planned out his future and the kind of person he is, he will stick with it. if he were to move, it will most likely be to spain. and didn’t he say he wasn’t interested in the premiere league anyway?

Goal was Squillaci’s fault, ducking out of the way of a cross. Even if he thinks nothing is behind him, at 87 minutes, be a decisive centre back and clear your lines no matter what! I feel optimistic though bout the return leg. Both sides played defensively, but United won’t at home, meaning more space for Karim, and look at what he did with no space! haha :) Their defence is their weakness. We need more goals from the wings though, Govou and Ben Arfa. Dangerous to just depend on Benzema.

Im telling you Ush, Squillaci has played good all season, but he reverted back to ” The player that was on the defense that gave up 3 goals in the champions league final to Porto ”

I seriously hope we never see that Squillaci again, and maybe Cris could be fit and partner up with Boumsong for the next leg. Or maybe Perrin makes another ” Coaching Move ” and has all three of them playing, Boumsong being on of the SB. Who Knows ? lol

Squillaci is maybe a little bit TIRED, don’t you think so ?
He is the only one who had no injury this season, so he keep playing again, and again, every game. He had no possibility to be substitute, just for even one game.

I can understand if he is now a little bit less efficient.
Please do not already hush him up.

I gotta agree with Jo. Squillaci has played EVERY game since he came on as a sub during Toulouse vs. Lyon. And even then, he had just returned from injury (remember he got hurt during the Peace Cup) and wasn’t even fully fit, but Cris got taken off, and Perrin had no choice but to throw Squillaci on.

I think for Metz, Squillaci should be given a rest. Surely Cris and Boumsong can handle Metz. If they can’t, Lyon have no business being in the French top flight.

the man u fans who think a manchester victory at old trafford is foregone conclusion could have another thing coming. with cris back in the lineup that will give Lyon to push forward confidently the way they did before he got injury. he’s been the missing link that will bring OL to its full potential. and i think ben arfa learned a lesson in this game too. OL would have probably had a second goal had he not been selfish and had passed to benzema after his amazing solo run into the box.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not writing off Squllaci, he’s good and I’ve seen him play very well. But as I’ve said before, these are the moments that define seasons and you just cannot let it happen. Soft goal that didn’t need to be conceded.
