Can i just take some time out to congratulate Lyon on a fantastic in in glasgow, i am heartbroken but i have to admit that the best team won!
Jean Claude Darchevilles miss will live with me forever as i was actually celebrating the goal.
Benzema is quite a player, easily outshone Juninho and you will do well to get him on a long contract! It has been nice chatting with you lot, especially Inara and your love for your team is clear, good luck in the later stages of the champions league, and good luck in ligue 1 as well.
If Lyon can avoid Man Utd and Chelseas, who knows.
Again, well done and good luck.

And how much has this match added to Benzema’s market value? Henry must be starting to watch his back.
Wow this was a score line I didn’t expect but boy it feels good.

Yes, Mark. I’m a big fan of the Tartan Army and am genuinely sorry you couldn’t go through instead of Barca. Best of luck and a better group draw next year!

Mark: Thanks so much for your kind words. I know the defeat hurts but Rangers have a lot to be proud of. Lyon did qualify but at the end of the day it just comes down to experience. But you guys made us suffer a home defeat, something that not even the likes of Barca, Milan, MU, Bayern or Real have ever accomplished. And not only that, but that was our biggest European home defeat ever. And even today, Rangers played with a lot of heart and could have qualified if Darcheville had scored. No use crying over spilled milk of course, but next year the players will have that much needed experience under their belts. It wasn’t too long ago when Lyon were in the exact same situation Rangers are in (actually, that was only five years ago). Good luck in the UEFA Cup!

Whoever said that Benzema would get a hat trick had a very good guess. Benzema got a brace and could easily have gotten two more goals if he had better finishing.

I just couldn’t take it anymore before the second goal. Lyon were playing so defensive for 20 minutes! Here are some of my comments on the game, they are in French, so sorry for this, but i don’t have time to translate right now!

We want videos of Tommy Smyth : yeah when he had to “manger son chapeau” LIVE!!! Please Inara show us this embarrassing moment for our dear friend : I am sure that he is expressing his lack of understanding of such a performance from a French team ;b

Wouah, lots of spelling mistakes and no accents, sorry! Japanese keyboards can be a pain to write French

Pride of Lyon, I’m going to watch the game in about half an hour. I’m storing your player ratings away to see if I agree.
(And Karim? I don’t care if you do turn twenty next week. My offer to adopt you still stands.)

Laurie : the worse thing about it is that it is a Japanese keyboard, and the word I am using doesn’t know French, so everytime I write a word like “defensif” it changes into “defensive” and so on… French are so good to find excuses, glad I don’t have to find some for my team today.

laurie’s probably on about qwerty v. azerty… but i have one at work and the other at home, and my fingers have learned to handle BOTH with astonishing ease. writing french w/accents on a qwerty board otoh is a bitch…

accents are simple on a qwerty. for a “e” with accent aigu press Alt+1+3+0(or is it five?).
No japanese keyboards are way past that. Accents don’t even exist on mobile phones (from which I write now).

Laurie I’m sure ‘older’ adoptions are perfectly valid (assuming his parents don’t mind signing over the future demi god of football).
I’m currently exploring college options for my oldest son and we’ve just visited one that turned out to be Karim’s old school and which links up with OL to do daily after school football training. Can you imagine how difficult it now is to persuade my son to even visit another school? Interesting however the school really put a strong emphasis on respect and consideration, above all else including academic achievement. Benzema is actually a pretty good role model for their alumni.

Storm, that’s really cool that your son may end up attending Benzema’s school. Does your son play football?
Interestingly, I read an interview from one of Benzema’s teachers, who said that while he wasn’t that great at academics, he was very professional about it and always determined to do his best. I can just imagine a younger Karim sitting at a desk agonizing over a spelling rest.
Just adorable really. I wonder who he sat with in the cafeteria!
