That was not the same Roma that came to Lyon…
By: Inara | April 10th, 2007I just finished watching a recap of today’s Champions League matches, and the only thought that’s in my head is, why did Roma bust out with their relegation form tonight instead of a month ago at the Gerland?
I normally try to avoid revisiting the events of March 7th, when a Roma team that was secretly doped up on a combination of Meth, Steroids, oxygen rich blood, and distilled red wine came to Lyon and made them suffer their first home defeat in four years, a defeat that would not have happened if the game had taken place three months earlier.
I know, I know, I’m being a sore loser, especially because Roma outplayed a Lyon team that forgot how to score. And that Totti was world class that night, thumbsucking and all. And that Mancini is the greatest stepover king on the world. And that Spalletti is the best tactician ever. And that Roma has finally shown the world what a great team they are. And blah blah blah.
So after watching tonight’s recap, I have to ask, WHAT HAPPENED?
That cannot be the same Roma that caused me serious agony and depression a month ago when they oh so cruelly dumped my beloved Lyon out of Europe.
But then again, Lyon would never have been humiliated like that, even at a place like Old Trafford. So can you blame me for being the teensiest bit depressed that while Roma crapped all over Lyon, they gave Manchester United the easiest win in Champions League history?

Frick, you Romans, you gotta play the shittiest game ever against ManU, who were gonna beat you anyway. Shame on you, waiting till the quarters.

Champions League is a very tricky competition. Luck matters probably more than anything.
