The Champions League Semifinal That Never Was…

I’ve previously posted that Lyon featured in the movie Goal! 2 as the team that Real Madrid defeat on their way to the Champions League final.
Am I the only one who finds this humorous? In four meetings, Real hasn’t managed to win against Lyon, and in seven years, Lyon have yet to bypass the barrier of the quarterfinals. But I guess in Hollywood, everything is possible.
I’m bringing this up again because someone created a clip of the Lyon match from the movie, and it’s fun to see OL in action against a partially fake Real Madrid team. The shots are all taken from the group stages of Lyon’s 2005-2006 CL campaign. That’s why John Carew and Mahamadou Diarra are in OL kits.
The movie clip also features Super!Coupet as well as Guti, Tiago, Cris, and a host of other players getting into a mini-brawl.

SO lame, Hollywood still has not figured out how to accurately depict soccer matches. Corny as hell.

It is really corny. I still have yet to see the second one and don’t think I will either. I was going to just to see L’OL, but since someone handily made the clip of them, I’m satisfied.
