It’s Time to Place Your Bets Again

Betway has once again published their odds for the Ligue 1 2008/2009 season. Lyon are the favorites to win the championship, which would make it their eighth straight title. But unlike last season, an upset isn’t as far-fetched.

It says that Bazdarevic would like to renew Paillot’s loan. That wouldn’t be a bad thing, since barring an injury catastrophe like last year, Paillot probably won’t play a single game this year. We heard Puel name Bodmer as his forth. Not good.

so wait…….lille have better chance of winning then Nancy ? weird.

This season will probably be our toughest, especially with all the new player that will probably be starting. Only time will tell.

I feel so bad for Grenoble for those odds.
I keep hearing Sandy rumours now ):
I really don’t see him getting a lot of games if he stay though, not that we did get Mensah and Réveillère isn’t leaving. He’d be better off loaned (and like you said, a lot of them are being pushed out of the club, like Remy and Migliore. I don’t see why he can’t go out on loan again.)

while Grenoble will have quite a challenge to avoid relegation it is a great place to take in a match. Nice crowd, good sight lines in the new stadium and of course, its Grenoble

Off topic, but Lyon’s friendly with Nancy is in progress. I hate how Nancy’s way of dealing with Lyon’s superior technicality is to hack the players down. Fabio Santos got his cheek fractured, and some other OL players have been taken down pretty hard. Not cool. It’s just a friendly. I wish someone at the LFP would complain about Nancy’s thug tactics. Physical force is good and all, but those guys take it to another level.

Also, Juni scored from a free kick. That “old” geezer still has a few miles left in him.

Tafer scored again, does anyone think he’s worth a first team shout this season, also Pied scored - anyone have any info on this player?

    goals: Juninho, Pied, Tafer.

I think Tafer will make the first team. He and Mounier have impressed the most, as has Gassama, but he’s a RB, and we have Clerc and Reveillere. Pied though probably will be in the reserves this season.

Hmm…Cris Boum 1 goal against a fairly weak team, Paillot bodmer 0 goals against nancy…hmm…also Inara I agree about tafer and mounier, they are progressing like the two b’s did…maybe by the time we sell benzema we’ll already have his replacement. Gassama looks to have A LOT of potential if he shores up a bit this season. I wouldn’t mind seeing the youth play all the cup games, I think they would have a good run at winning it. Can September come already!!

    This is directly from L’équipe

For those not fluent in french…he has two fractures, his cheek and around his left eye. And should be out for a while :(

Ronald, the reason that Nancy has worse odds than Lille is because they lost Kim, Chretien, and will lose Puygrenier, who are the three best players they had last season. Lille lost players too, but of what’s left, Lille has the better team (though Nancy has the better coach). But that’s what makes Nancy so special - no one expects anything from them, and yet they always manage to surpass expectations.

rougebleu: Claude Puel was saying that Fabio Santos would be out for several months. That makes me so mad at Nancy. It was just a friendly, geez.

I was really looking forward to seeing him play this year. I feel bad for the guy - he never gets his chance, something is always happening to him.

Oh well, at least we got Makoun, right?

I think if Puel can instill a team ethic, rather than individuals, this team can really do some damage this year. There will naturally be some rotation, but my favoured line up so far:

    Benz
    Delgado Keita/Govou
    Pranjic
    Juni/Ederson
    Toulalan
    Grosso Mensah Cris Clerc
    Lloris

Playing two holding midfielders in Makoun and Toulalan should be reserved for games against extremely technical opposition.

I love Jean-mimi to death, but moments like these make me want to slam my head against my desk.

A few years ago, it was possible. What Aulas said was true, Lyon had the chance to sign Eto’o from Mallorca. In fact, Eto’o had wanted to come, but according to him, Aulas negotiated too hard.

But now? I don’t see how it’s possible.

Two months for Santos to recover. Which means he’ll be back just in time to play against Nancy again. I hope he exacts his revenge.

If Fabio’s willing to wear a face protector, his return time should be cut in half. I remember Cribari fractured his face (that’s what I call it) and he’s was supposed to be out for awhile. Came back pretty quickly.

    Sad for Fabio.
He really deserves a chance to prove how good he can be on a pitch.
I like this kind of warrior player, Lyon needed some last year !
