Lyon PostSecret: Week 2
By: Inara | December 14th, 2007Olympique Lyonnais is an easy club to play for. They possess the best squad in France by miles, have a lot of money and resources, wear cool black kits in Europe, and could win domestic titles with even a blind baboon coaching them. All Lyon ask of their players is to keep their mouths shut, to stay away from prostitutes and orgies, and to drive under the speed limit. But for those who can’t handle it, struggle with temptation, and are hemmed in by the pressure, they can turn to Lyon PostSecret.

(Lyon PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where the players, coaches, and anyone affiliated with them mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard.)

I can’t believe you went and actually found pics of estelle’s show

It was so easy! Just type in Estelle Denis in google images, and you’re immediately linked to hundreds of pictures of her cleavage.

yeah her cleavage helps you stay awake on sunday nights. Her show starts at 12.30 A.M til 2 or something. When you see the other two hosts (Pierre Menes who’s an obese and unfunny bloke, even though he’sentertaining, and dominique grimaud, who’s just too old for this) you need all the charm to watch a soccer show without soccer images.

Inara, I was laughing so hard my son came running upstairs to see what was going on. I quickly minimized the screen.

Well, Inara, I could be discribed as a new member of the “Lyon family” at The Offside, and a new admirerer of this blog of yours, but I have actually been reading it on a daily basis for a couple of months now (do I really need to mention how impessed I am? :)) and have been waiting for the perfect moment to write my first comment here. And no, this is not the perfect moment - the perfect moment was on wednesday evening but I just wasn’t sober enough to write anything! Well, I have no intention to write a complete CV here, but I just want to mention that I’m from Serbia and that I’m a perfect example of a football fan that has become obssesed with Lyon simply because of their style of play, technique and class (and yes, these black kits play a great part in it!). As I can see from the comments on the Serbian sites that I visit, Lyon is becoming more and more popular here, and the game in Glasgow received much praise by football fans and brought us a lot of reputation (definitely not only in Serbia!) and I somehow feel that this CL season is The One. Not because Lyon is better that last season, but because this time around we are in the centre of media attention as a truly heroic team full of young stars ready to shine and outbattle any team that stands in their way to the CL trophy! No, this is definetely not a realistic image, but in football, as in life, sometimes it is important to believe in something despite your chances. When Lyon faced Roma in february, everyone thought that Lyon would simply wipe them out at The Gerland on the same way as they did with Real Madrid two years in a row. It turned out to be a catastrophe, and Lyon dissapeared from the scene before the real showdown even started! This time around, we have barely managed to qualify for the knockout stages, and no one consideres us superior to any of the first-seeded teams. However, we are given a massive media attention as “The Underdogs” of the competition, which is definetely a good thing - there’s no pressure, there are no high expectations - just a injection of self-belief and fighting spirit that we have always felt that we lacked. With Benzema, Ben Arfa, Juninho and an encouraged Fred up front - who can tell us where are our limits?
(sorry, Inara, this is definetely not the right article to put this comment on, but I just fear that no one would read it if I put it in an old article)
And as for Ligue 1… I have a theory or two, but this time I’ll wait for a L1-oriented article to post them…

Hi Nicolas, glad to see you here.
Don’t worry about this not being the perfect post - as I’m sure you noticed, we talk about anything and everything in all posts, and I’m just glad to have you on board. I’m thrilled to see Lyon raising their profile abroad since in general, it’s still in the process of gaining recognition. And I agree…I have a feeling that something big will happen to Lyon this year. The team has gone through hell, but they’ve come out stronger!
Maybe being an underrated and under appreciated side for once will help us this time since before, Lyon have always been expected to win, which I think got to the heads of some of the players. But this year, having to earn every point has brought back some humility in the squad, and for that I’m glad.
Remember, don’t hesitate to post regardless of what comment is up. There is no such thing as off topic on this blog!

Thank you for your warm welcome!
You know, I just feel like talking to the newspapers now, I have read everything that has been written on this site in the last three months, but I haven’t participated in any way, so it feels kinda strange to actually be a part of it…
About the OFF, I wonder if that’s why this site is called “The OFF-side”…

I’ll nevertheless try to be a good guy and don’t OFF too much anymore!Posted from
