Real World Clairefontaine: Hatem Ben Arfa and Abou Diaby Fight

By: Inara | October 21st, 2007

Thanks to Clairefontaine Reality TV, we know that former Clairefontaine classmates Hatem Ben Arfa and Abou Diaby weren’t friends. And though I’m sure their relationship has improved by now, perhaps Arsenal should reconsider their interest in Ben Arfa.

I’m posting this for three reasons: I love watching players get into fights (don’t ask me why, but I think it’s hot), it’s fun to see these guys as dorky little teenagers who aren’t old enough to shave, and also, I’m hoping some of you out there can tell me exactly why they’re fighting. I’ve recently realized that I only know the obscure French dialect known as football francais, and so general conversation is a bit beyond my grasp.

They were getting along well. This incident shouldn’t tarnish their otherwise pretty good relationship.

The main leader of that generation (and the one that breaks up the fight if memory serves right since I didn’t view this video that I already know) is Habib Bellaid.

This incident came up after a string of bad result in a spanish tournament, where the talented team could not manage to play together.
Diaby was widely considered as the best player of that generation then (he was playing striker) and Ben Arfa as the most talented (he was playing with the 86 even though he was an 87, which is the only exception of INF history).

OK, after watching the video :
The first small black boy standing between them is Garra Dembele, former Auxerre standout, huge potential, but not much of an IQ. After being fired from Auxerre’s academy, he was accused of raping an american student in Roma.
He’s currently trying to put his career back on track (after tries in Liverpool, Lazio, etc…). He’s a striker.

The guy breaking up the fight was not Bellaid as I seemed to remember but Olivier N’Sia, the captain, who played for Rennes before fleeing to Ascoli.

The reason for the fight is that Ben Arfa said something like (son of a bitch), half joking, half serious to Diaby, who took exception that something was said against his mother.

Do they keep saying, “Je ne suis pas stupide” or Je ne sais pas stupide”? In the very beginning the writing I believe said something like, Why are you talking about the mothers or something dealing with mothers.
Got to say that was pretty funny even though I wouldn’t want to be in that situation.

Funny video to see, but you should not publish this one Inara. The comments at the end of it are clearly racist. It seems that this video has been published to promote an anti-islamic group.

Ay ay ay! I had no idea.

What and who exactly are being racist? I know Ben Arfa is Muslim, is that what one of the problems was?

The video is clearly introduced to show two “colored” French people fighting. The words spoken in this video are nothing but insults.

At the end of video, it is written:
    “These were savages”
“Islamocoptie (looks like an anti-islam group) will win”
    “The real ones know”
    “The fake ones drool”

    Sucks…

Is that what the ending writings actually say? That’s horrible! So disappointing! Also I didn’t know Ben Arfa was Muslim.

it’s a harmless little tiff between two kids; what’s being said is very hard to get mainly because of the sound quality, maybe also because of the way they converse which is probably very slangy.

islamocoptie is no hate group, the only hit for the word is for his dailyvision “offerings”… this, an interview which he thinks makes aruna dindane look stupid, a clip from a TV show which again HE thinks makes blacks look irresponsible and childish, a couple of sports clips that don’t seem to make any sense… my guess is islamocoptie as about 14 and very troubled… as for the nick, he may think that coptie (neologism) has something to with copro…

btw, hats off to evilo, he REALLY knows his EdF history!

Hello. I do this one in Englaish! As no-one else speaks Francais. I went to Clairefontaine. I was in the same year of Abou and Hatem. Good friends often, and just arguments am happen. I never graduating because I developed a muscle ligament disease, mostly within my knee and ankles. I move to USA to study for Law degree. I often have contact with many friends from Clairefontaine. I am good friends with Garra (Dembele), and I often speak with him over Internet. I don’t think he appreciate the comment about low IQ!

Last time I spoke to Abou, was when he was playing at Auxerre. We were good friends as we share names!

I was not a good friend of Hatem, but there was no fights. I do remember though, that he often used to disrespect people. He used to make lots of people angry, especially whilst playing football.

Simona - Nearly all of them are muslim, Benarfa, Abou Diaby, Benzema, Nasri, Dembele, bellaid. NOt always practicing but all muslim.
They were thirteen year olds. And I think that everyone who was watching that show (the show made hatem the star) knew he was a brat. I think that show made him a disservice. Even Bellaid who is clearly the leader of that generation comes off as irresponsible and suffisant. He said the first thing he told to his Strasbourg coach was “i’m not like on the show”
But Hatem was a brat playing with players a year older than he was. And because of his hype disrespected some of them. All in all it was a great show. It’s getting replays now on ESPN sports classic. I get to watch a few of them because i’m their age so I was like fifteen when it aired or something. It’s funny cause some of them lived to the potential and some never did. And Evilo thanks for the Dembele news, I thought he was in jail.
And what that Diru guy wrote at the end was disgusting

I was in two of the episodes of the show. One was during a training session when I scored a good goal with my right foot (I’m left footed), and everyone clapped and I winked at the camera.

Yes, he definitely changed a lot. You can just listen to his interview’s now. He always talks about the team but never about himself. I think he would like to show off, but he knows he has to keep it down a little if he wants to be in the starting 11.
And I did hear from Dusseau that hatem is likely to go to Arsenal… *snif snif*… I hope he is wrong.
