More Stadium News (and Pics!)
By: Inara | September 28th, 2007Anytime I get depressed about something related to Lyon, I look at the artistic renderings of the new stadium. It’s such a pick-me-upper.
Today, Lyon unveiled the official website of Project OL Land, which will feature press releases, news, important information, and of course, a lot of high-res pictures. According to the new information, the exact number of seats is 61556 though operating capacity will be something like 58000-60000. This as of yet unnamed stadium will be a UEFA 5 Star Stadium, which will make it only the second stadium in France able to host the finals of the Champions League (the other is the Stade de France).

Better than Percoset.
As you can also see from the pictures, this stadium will be as transparent as possible, in order to maximize light entering the stadium, as well as for reflecting it outside the stadium. In fact, it is quite possible that this stadium will be visible from outer space.
Of course, building OL Land won’t be so easy. A small group was created in the Decines community to protest OL Land, and they plan on holding a protest tomorrow (!!). Called Carton Rouge (website), they will be departing from Decines at 10 AM (France time), march through the city, and hold a sit-in at a construction site. Great.

Looks awesome! I love the interior and the acoustic system.
Nevertheless I’m still very skeptical about having glass everywhere around the stadium. This looks very fragile.Posted from

Btw I can see five Juninho shirts on the “Interior” picture. Who can find more?

It’s obvious by now that Aulas plans to have Juninho cloned by 2010.

Would that make him Juninhoinho? Or Little Little Junior?

That, or it might be Frenchified into Junideux.

or it means that the first game in the new stadium would be Juninho’s jubilee.
It would be a way of marking a new era.
But it is probably just a marketting idea to sell all of Juninho’s shirt stock.
Great vision of Lyon’s future anyway.

I don’t know, I doubt the club need to worry about Juni’s shirt stock. I’m pretty sure he’s the most popular sell.
I hope I hope I hope I’m still interested in football when this stadium is finally built. If you guys knew me personally, you’d know that I’m a total flake and have the attention span of a five year old. I have a new interest or hobby every few months.

I think its Juninhoinho, unless the clone is a french citizen. The stadium looks impressive, I cant wait for it to open, my first trip to Lyon will be when it does and that is something im really looking forward to.
