Fred’s Latest Hissy Fit
By: Inara | October 19th, 2008Fred was very pissed yesterday when, as he was walking off the pitch during a substitution, he was booed rather voraciously by the home crowd at the Gerland. Sayz Fred:
“It’s very difficult. Every time, it’s the same thing – the fans are angry with me and whistle at me. When the team draws or loses, it becomes my fault. I don’t deserve this. This proves that they aren’t real fans. Fortunately, I’m supported by my teammates and the technical staff, who also don’t understand the fans’ reaction towards me…”
Fred also says that if he scores in the next match, he won’t celebrate with the fans. He also confirms that he will not leave Lyon this winter no matter how much the fans whistle him. At the very least, he will stay until the end of his contract, which ends this summer. Aulas on the other hand is hoping that Fred doesn’t take the whistling too personally (too late, he already has) because he wants the Brazilian to extend his contract.

Fred’s most frequent expression these days.
What’s hilarious is Fred’s refusal to acknowledge why Lyon fans – who are the last people on the planet to engage in booing their own players – dislike him so much. Maybe it’s because he’s been less visible than Casper when he’s been on the pitch. Or maybe it’s because of his belief that he’s entitled to a starting spot based on his performances three years ago. Or maybe it’s because of all that shit he pulled last year (for more info, read this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and this).
Geez, Fred is such a delinquent. Has he lately done ANYTHING besides falling to the ground and missing really easy sitters? Anything?!?!?!I mean, even his own coaches bitch about him. Gerard Houllier, when asked about Fred’s whereabouts two years ago, famously replied: “How the hell should I know? I only pay attention to players who are at the club.” Alain Perrin, when asked last summer about Fred’s whereabouts, responded: “I’m seriously thinking about calling the FBI and filing a missing persons report.” I can only imagine what Puel has to say about him.
And before I get accused of being on an anti-Fred agenda (which I am, I have no patience for the guy), I should mention that he’s had personal issues, so you can read about that here. Though that’s no excuse if you ask me.
The question is, do we want Fred to extend his contract at Lyon? Based on past performances and incidents, I think I’d rather just get Loic Remy back. Hell, I’d rather just promote Yannis Tafer.

I love it!
The allusion to Casper, and the: “(for more info, read this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and this)”.Still, it would be a shame to see Fred go on a free transfer. Fred seems to have a double personality issue. He can look very calm and understanding in some interviews, but the next day he will just lose it and assassinate everyone around him!
His departure seems inevitable now… what a shame, what a wasted talent.

Did Remy leave on a permanent transfer last season? Shame, as his goalscoring record this season has been great and it would be good to see him come back. But he doesn’t seem all to enamoured with Lyon at the moment as his pre match interview before the game v Lyon showed. Also, what’s happened to Cesar Delgado? That one seems like a waste of club funds.

No no no. I just want June to come and we can say a big fat goodbye to Fred. Definately the guy has huge talent but it is completely overshadowed by his tantrums and his attitude. Football is a team sport and Fred’s behaviour is far too self centred to be compatible with that. I never like this type of behaviour but for heavens sake at least you have to back it up with goals and a consistently high level of performance on the pitch.
Plus theres the continual danger that some managers, amazingly Puel included, try to pacify Fred’s overinflated ego and push Benzema on the wing so that the occassionally not injured Fred can play where he wants to.
Also its a lovely little story about all his bad behaviour being because he’s missing his daughter but frankly its just a nicely well spun little tale that his agent has doubtless told him to say. And as for missing all those cuddles with her, well Fred is a shocking womaniser who usually has multiple girlfriends on the go so he’s not really missing out on cuddles too much!
Are we sure that JMA wants to extend his contract. The money we’ve wasted on Fred is shocking, to extend his contract would be just to throw good money after bad.
Sam yes Loic Remy was sold; sadly because he’s been amazing ever since leaving Gerland!

About Cesar Delgado, I was sooo sad and disappointed for him.
He was ready to enter on the pitch, had pull off his training shirt, was near the 4th referee, just had to wait that the game was stopped to come in, Puel boosting and egging him on.
And… Mensah get injured.
The poor Delgado, who hasn’t played a single minute in ligue 1 this year, had to return sit on the bench, to let Boumsong replace Mensah.
That was the 3rd sub.Black year for Delgado, for sure.

Delgado did play this season against Lorient as a late sub, then he got hurt.

I have no patience for Fred either. Loic was sold, but he has a buy back clause which is pretty high, yet if he continues in this form, it will be worth it. He, along with Gourcuff and Feghouli are definately up for young player of the year so far. And definately promote Tafer, he is scoring for the CFAs already!

I don’t remember Fred missing too many sitters lately but he definately is tearing up the field either. I find that Piquionne looks more dangerous when he comes on than Fred does simply because he has the speed to create space for himself.

I agree with you about Piquionne, Lefutur.
Jao : Really ? I didn’t remember that.

Yes, Delgado got injured and then began his rehab in the CFA, and I am pretty sure he aggrivated the injury while with the CFA squad. We are looking kind of thin with regards to wingers now, with Govou injured and Delgado just coming back from injury, while Ederson has yet to convince me on the left and Keita struggling for form on the right. Do we throw Grenier into the mix? Or does Mounier start more consistently finally? I just hope Benzema doesnt end up on the left.

Darn!!!!! I have to wait until June for Fred to leave? Fred really knows how to ruin my day!!!!!!! The thing that kills me the most about this guy, is when he lazily losses a ball to a defender, and while the ball is being taken away from him, he looks to the referee for a call, instead of fighting to keep the ball or get it back. If I were the coach, I think I would have physically assualted him. And the fact that he gets rewarded for his behavior, and Benz(who has always behaved like a pro, despite his age and scores like nobody’s business) get’s pushed out to the wing, and Piquionne who comes to play is #3, burns my blood. I hope it’s all to get him ready for market. If Remy does have a buy-back clause, then we should spend whatever it takes to bring him back- if he wants to come back- since I’m sure Benz will leave at the end of the season. I wish they’d never brought in Keita and kept Remy at RW. I also think we should go after Nimani or Hourau.

off topic, but though I also said this in the comments of the previous post, for those who didn’t see it: if any of you are interested, you can dl the entire Lyon-Arsenal ladies match here. It’s SO worth watching as it’s the best footie Lyon have played in a while, across both the men’s and women’s divisions.

Forgot to tell you…I honored Kathy Jarvis last Friday the 17th! She’d be able to set this young fella straight! Check it out!

Please present evidence of his womanizing. Fred is having issues due to the fact that he’s been plagued with injuries and is rusty due to the lack luster coaching of alain perrin. Give the guy a break. He’s got talent, and that never leaves a person, unless the unforseen happens, which I hope doesn’t happen to him or anyone else.

Melissa, I saw that post, it brought tears to my eyes. I left a comment on it actually. Thanks so much for it, she was a great lady.

What make me angry about Fred is that I’m sure he will leave (for free ?) on next summer and be a terrible striker for his new team.
