Will be good to see Ben Arfa back against Metz.

I thought that when Fred (finally) came back to Lyon this summer, he was supposed to be back playing by mid September?

Its not just us missing Coupet. Look at the goal Landreau conceded in the France v. Scotland match. Domenech must be really hurting without Coupet.

Pride of Lyon: I really like how the players get behind each other. When Ben Arfa was sitting out a few weeks ago, Juni came out and said, "with all respect to Mancini and Reyes, Ben Arfa will be even better. Lyon don't need another winger." CHRIS: I'm one of those annoying people who bold, italicize, and underline everything. Seriously though, it's a habit from when I respond to really long comments. The bold helps separate my responses to different people.

Inara: I agree that we miss coupet. I am not saying that the players replacing the injured ones are better. I am just saying that whoever gets injured in Lyon will always be considered as an important player.
Even if it had been Vercoutre injured, we would have wanted him to be back quickly in case Coupet got injured. So we never think “Oh, he is injured, so what?”.

Chris: the hilarious part about all this is that Lyon’s physical trainer, Robert Duverne, is also in charge of the France NT side (he prepared the players for the WC). As for the medical staff…I think Aulas should have used some of his transfer kitty on bringing in some more doctors to compensate for the lines in the waiting room.

Pride of Lyon: I agree, I like how the players are all part of a bigger picture. It means, inevitably, that we are able to survive the losses of our star players because they are not so much different from the others. But I think Coupet is an exception because he is just so much better than Vercoutre.

You can see Lyon is a good team by the fact that as soon as there is an injury it is an important player… The fact is, there are no “not important” players in the team.
We need Coupet, Fred, Cris, Ben Arfa, Baros and Muller (especially with Cris being injured).
And that is what I like about this team, it is kind of a family where everyone has an important role. I am glad we didn’t buy any more players at the end of this mercato. The number is just right.
