Officials from Lyon were yesterday in Nice to finalize the deal with Lloris. As Inara was writing it, Coupet would have already signed with Totenham which would mean that the deal with Lloris is already done. I don't imagine Greg leaving Lyon without being sure that the replacement is already signed. Congratulations for this great blog!

Sam: Don't worry about being off topic - all discussions are welcome :)

About the fans...well, that may be true that some of their fans are awful. But since I live in the US, I don't know many Chelsea fans, so I can only speak from my own personal experience. The few EPL fans I do know are mostly United ones, and they are insufferable. So that has soured my tasted for that club. But my defense of Chelsea has less to do with the behavior of their fans and more to do with the fact that it is their right to be Chelsea fans. Classless or not, it's not fair the label them as all band wagoners.

Also, I don't think Chelsea is that much different from their English counterparts. Chelsea tap up players (hello Essien!), but the same can be said of Arsenal (Wenger who said on national TV that he wants Ben Arfa) and United (Fergie who stalked Benzema in the hallway to give him a United shirt). So it's not that I like Chelsea (I'm not even a casual fan), it's just that I don't think that they are alone in doing things the wrong way.

As for their players, I'm very ambivalent towards Terry, Lampard, even Rooney and Gerrard, etc. I rarely watch them in action unless either France or Lyon are playing against their teams. To be honest, Terry missing that penalty didn't cause any emotion in me. Ronaldo missing it made me happy, and Anelka missing it made me sad (because he's French - I'm shallow, I know).

I really wanna see Delgado get more playing time!! I love Argentine players and the few times I did see him he looked lively but of course his touch wasn't great as he was so out of match practice I'm guessing.

Sorry to keep rising to this. I appreciate that I must look awful to keep on writing so many posts slating Chelsea and it's not good that my first real posts on here of any note are arguing with some of you, so I'm sorry again for that, it just pains me to see some Lyon fans supporting such a horrible club, but I think Inara and Pride of Lyon don't quite understand what makes Chelsea and players like Terry unpopular. It's not that they burst on to the scene, it was the way they did it with tappings up. Their fans have a reputation of being the worst in the premier league, which was demonstrated by them coming bottom of the fans behaviour award as well - as you can see from the riots in Fulham broadway last night - without any opposing fans even being there! Pride of Lyon: Terry is unpopular across most of England and there have been great debates that he should be stripped of his england title! This man bullies referees, opposition players, found guilty of assault and mocking American tourists in the wake of September 11th as well as parking in disabled parking spaces. Big problem with Chelsea is a lack of any class or respect!

Inara: Your long Chelsea Lyon post is beautiful... nothing to argue or add.

I now know 2 persons who hate Terry. Must have lived in the wrong side of England before.

Sam : You're absolutely right. English big club mentality. It just so happens that we're surrounded by United fans so it's difficult. Doesn't suprise me bout John Terry, who I do think is a good player. Alot of things go on like that and meanwhile Drogba gets sent off for tapping someone.
In the CL semi final 2nd leg last year, Chelsea against Liverpool at Anfield, the players were coming out of the tunnel with kids holding there hands. John Terry was laughing and smiling with the child and they started walking out. As they were, this huge, fat skinheaded Liverpool fan with no shirt on was hanging over the tunnel entrance and shouting "WANKER!!" repeatedly in John Terrys face which quickly turned to a grimace and he spat on the ground.
The guy was walking out with a little kid like, I thought it was unbelievable.

Delgado is maybe good, but Ben Arfa is Lyon's child. We created him. Man called Cesar Delgado can't replace our Hatem. We need you Hatem, reject Arsenal, say to them : Go to the hell. I love Lyon. And for love of god Aulas just say to Perrin : Thank you for everything and nothing, goodby. We don't need you. We need HATEM BEN ARFA!!!

I'm pretty sure Delgado will be playing a lot more next year. Aulas said that he didn't regret bringing Delgado to Lyon but that he should have waited until the summer (it's always hard for a South American to adjust midwinter). But he's been looking really good at practices, and it might be one of the reasons why Lyon aren't that anxious to keep Ben Arfa.

Also, the Coupet departure rumors are looking more heated than ever - apparently he confirmed to some fans at Tola VOlage today that he'd be going to Tottenham and that this weekend is his last game at OL - those fans started crying. http://www.rmc.fr/edito/sport/47902/coupet-devrait-quitter-l-ol/

Fred will sign a one year (one year?!?!?) extension soon until 2010.

I'd like to see Delgado get some playing time next season. Lyon paid a good amount for him and how many minutes has he played so far? Hardly any. But his patience shows a good character. He's never seen moping on the bench and when OL won the title he looked as happy as anyone. He seems like a good guy.

Sam I haven't seen that incident with JT spitting but it doesn't surprise me at all - the man's a thug both on and off the football pitch. Sorry but if someone had to miss for Chelsea last night I'm pleased it was him and Anelka(and very pleased it wasn't Lampard who's a great guy). But too bad it couldn't have been Ronaldo who screwed up and swayed the result, just maybe that would have got through to his enormous ego!
