Ederson would be a better edition, Renato Augusto would take time to adapt to Europe and a new position because we dont play with a attacking midfielder like they do in Brazil. If he was bought im sure he would end up on loan somewhere, which would be suitable for me, but in the short term id go for Ederson.

Well, apparently Juni doesn't have his passport yet. Don't know what's taking so long, but obviously the club expects it soon or they wouldn't bother looking in Brazil at the moment.

I would LOVE Ederson.

its a good move for Bettiol. As for Ederson, Lazio are "engaging" as Italian translations have it (I check this stuff all the time now because Chris and his Roma blog are great) Meghni as well as Maduro, while Jimenez was tied up earlier in the summer althoug theres conflicting reports about him wanting out all the sudden... anyways, Ederson is one for the future still, while Meghni and Maduro are closer to their prime, which is what Lazio needs if they make it to the group stage, so i feel like ederson isnt gonna make the move. his price is turning lazio off too. Lyon wont pay 12, but you know Auluas can knock that down, and we have an EU spot and Ederson has been in France for three years now, he isnt far off getting french citizenship, then again neither is Juninho, or does he have it already? i know Cacapa got his this year. Non EU spots are exclusively for Brazilians at Lyon...

Salieri, it's interesting you should mention that, because shortly after the CdL failure, Cacapa gave an interview where he let slip that things weren't as peachy as the club was making it out to be, that it was hard to see yourself replaced by a player and then shake his hand the next day (I'm assuming he meant Baros-Fred and Diarra-Toulalan, though he also could have meant between him and Squillaci). I'll try to find that interview.

Guingol, I think another reason that has Diarra thinking he's been unfairly shafted is because he was out for two months with an injury, so he didn't rack up the minutes. If he hadn't been injured, then Lyon would never have bought Fabio Santos. And then his attitude cost him what time he could have had too.

Corey: Paillot and Remy will be on the first team next year. I'm not sure about Beynie though. About Bettiol, he might be loaned out next year to an L2 club for experience (Grenoble or Dijon). That will give him competitive experience, and perhaps then Lyon will know what kind of player they have on their hands.

Ederson's move to Lazio doesn't seem to be going anywhere, which means he's available again. I know Lyon were interested, but Nice is asking for 12 million, and I don't see the club paying that.

Paillot and Remy need to be in the first team, Beynie too if Diarra does leave (cross your fingers i guess) between Squillaci, Cacapa and Muller we can afford Paillot as our 4th, while Remy will get playing time if Perrin uses 4-4-2 because Keita and Ben Arfa will be shadow strikers most likely and we all know Govou and Keita are streaky. Elmander did not really have an impressive year, striker needs quantity as well as quality, and he really didnt have any quantity to speak of. He would not be a step up for Lyon. Bettiol will start the year as the #4 striker, and even though he scores goals in the reserves, he will have to be compared to benzema which means he will follow the julien viale route to Bastia or some club like that and fade away completely. I personally have never seen him play so i cant rate him, but lyons staff is split on him from what i see.
As for Brazil, Marcelo Dijon and Bernard do well, as well as Sonny Anderson chipping in even though he is a coach now. Renato Augusto would be a good signing but id rather have Ederson, we are more in need of that position the Augustos attacking midfield position which would see him as a winger eventually, which brazilians are not notorious for.

it's clear diarra hurt himself a lot with his mouth. he is a talented player and when on the pitch was usually a valuable asset, but his grumbling ruined it... hey, he got hurt, his competition for the spot shone, that's the way the cookie crumbles. and GH DID give him pitch time. in fact just after he shot off his mouth the first time he got a league start and made a dog's breakfast of it... and still got the next cup start and did well. he could have fit in very nicely if he'd been a bit more mature... until then he's of little use to any club or the NT.

In my opinion Diarra is one of those who destroy a team's inner solidarity.

How can you tell the medias during the week-end that you think you deserve to play more than another player, and then come to shake your teammate's hand at the training?

Elmander is a talented player, no doubt, but I don't see him as an upgrade over Benzema or Fred. Over Baros probably. But unless Elmander is much better than what we already have, or if Lyon offload someone, it'll be crowded once again. I'll all for lightening manpower unless it's to accommodate someone like Trezeguet.

If you take a closer look at his stats, you'll notice that he was nearly invisible the first half of the year (he scored three goals in two games out of 19 in the league). The second half of the season was when he really blossomed, but if you look at when he scored his goals, he scored in only five games out of 19, two of those which featured a hat trick (v. Bordeaux) and a brace (v. Marseille).

Fred scored just as many league goals but was spread out through the year, which means they were more influential in terms of winning a particular game. And don't forget Fred was suspended/injured for a third of the year).

The thing with Elmander is that he's a very dramatic player - when he plays well, he plays REALLY well. So everyone notices. But he doesn't seem like the kind of player you can depend on week in and week out, which is what Lyon really need. Someone whose goal output may not be flashy but is reliable.

But what I do like about Elmander is that he has a high number of assists for a striker, with six (which is more than Fred, Baros, and Benzema combined).

ELMANDER ???? Pointless ??? In my opinion, he could be considered as the best player of the last year in ligue 1. If as i remember(i could be wrong) he is able to play at the wings, he will be the perfect solution, i mean in an eventually weakness at the future offensive wings (just keita now( malouda will probably left, govou no importance, wiltord ibid Govou)and in a "we have three AC in case of injuries but don't say it to Fred" solution. The difference between Toulouse 16th(2005 2006) and toulouse (2006 2007)3rd= Elmander. Moreover, his price in a few years, when he will play against Europeans club could easilly increase by 3, and englishmen will"discover him".
