Saviola would not fit into the system and the players we have at the club wont compliment unless the system is changed completely. He is not great at getting on the end of crosses, and having played in France before and had his most unproductive year, i doubt he will want to return. The problem with all of this is, besides all of the young talent i scout daily, i can never really find anyone suitable for the striking or LB role for Lyon. Im having a tough time coming up with canidates, so while im shooting down all of these players i cant think of one myself. oh well, keep them coming.

I like the Lyon formation too, and given how some of the best teams use it – Barca, Chelsea, Ajax back when they were good, it’s not a weak formation. But the only problem is that in a 4-3-3 the striker plays alone, and having someone flaky (like Fred or Baros) often means not being as dangerous.

Salieri, it’s probably because of his wage demands, coupled with the non-EU thing and the fact that he doesn’t want to play in France.

By the way, I’m still wondering why Lyon is not trying to hire Saviola. I know he’s non-EU, but he is still free, and is planning to go to Galatasaray, who is OBVIOUSLY a less interesting team than Lyon.

Ha the U-20 WC is on foxsports in espanol, and since time warner is so great and gives me a dvr recorder i can record the 3am matches they broadcast and watch them at my leisure. otherwise im pretty much stuck, i only get to watch ol in the cl on espn2, i havent seen a french league game in awhile except for extended highlights on the internet and the odd full length game i bit torrented. i dont get setanta cause they only service commercial customers in my area which is lame.

I mirror your sentiments about Kallstrom and i dont think he will be leaving at all, dont worry. saw him in training and he looked happy. Renato Augusto has said he doesnt mind staying in brazil and learning more, which means he has his head on straight, and thats fine because we could buy him and leave him at flamengo the whole year. i simply want to get my hands on him before he becomes the next kaka and his price goes through the roof. the days of OL finding cheap stars is over since we are becoming well known for doing that.

As for our formation, right from olweb.fr Perrin has stated he will start with a 4-3-3 and move to a 4-3-2-1, which is pretty much how it has been under the past three managers, and its the style i like. anyways, he may look to use 4-4-2 in certain situations ,but he admits the “lyon” formation of 4-3-2-1 is too good to pass up.

Well, Renato Augusto will be pretty expensive as other clubs want him too, definitely not under 16 million. Lyon can afford that, so the question is does he want to come, and does Lyon want him. We do have a packed midfield, but we’ve always had a packed midfield, and I would rather have an attacking mid than a defensive mid.

The only way to have Juni and Bodmer on the pitch at the same time is to play with a 4-3-3, so I am wondering what Perrin will do now.

As for Kallstrom, he’s always been our supersub in the same way Benzema and Wiltord have been. I love him as a player and don’t want him to fall behind the pecking order. His weakness is his speed, but he’s big, strong, and very gifted technically with a powerful shot. I hope he stays at Lyon and doesn’t try to leave this summer.

Renato Augusto would be signed as a replacement for juninho, and this may be his last year that he can perform at a high level, he will begin his decline (i believe he already has alot…) Kallstrom is the obvious replacement here, but Augusto would be one of the future, and may go out on loan for the year if I ran the club, but then again we also would never have signed Suckio Santos and Milan Blows Baros.

The midfield may be very crowded if Renato Augusto is hired, with Kallstrom, Juninho, Toulalan, Diarra, Fabio Santos, Bodmer (6 for three spots), I think a 7th one is not needed, especially if we come to a 4-4-2!
Btw Malouda seems very close to Chelsea. I do hope he won’t be sold for these 18m€!

Bernard lacombe has said he likes Anelka, i dont know what to think of that. Also, i just watched brazil beat south korea at the u-20 world cup, i like renato augusto alot, i think he could do well as juninhos replacement. i also liked luziao, 20 CB at Cruzerio.
