I didn’t get to see the game either. I tried, but the streams kept bugging out on me. It’s unfortunate that the players can’t get themselves together with Juninho because he’s one yellow card away from suspension in the Champions League.

the 4-4-2 was no good. benzema had a hard time staying onside at first, and he and fred never seemed in synch. both govou and ben arfa were smothered by the CdS defense, and the passes going forward from KK and bodmer were never on the mark.

coupet made 2 or 3 very good plays, the savoyards had a striker named perrin (!) who was very fast and got to some dangerous balls… but you can’t really say that our defense “s’est fait balladé” the difficulties came as much from a very bad pitch as from any real construction by the opponents; they came out both barrels blazing in the first 10 min. but showed they weren’t anything OL couldn’t handle, but as the mud got sloppier, the ruts got deeper and the clumps got higher, the game became a crap shoot.

but there’s no avoiding the conclusion that without juni, for the time being this team is orphaned.

So did anyone who watched the game think that the 4-4-2 was any good or can we speculate that it was a failure based on the result?

why do Lyon struggle so much in cup games? I watched the Marseille-Monaco game at Nevada Smiths because it was the only CdF they showed. Marseille seem to raise their level in these tournaments whereas OL seem to wither.

Keita’s having a great game for Cote d’Ivoire. He scored the only goal in the first half and came inches from anther.
