solid game from Lyon but they were hesitant to go forward without juni marshalling the midfield. when fabio santos came on he actually provided some creativity to the midfield. i like that player.

nice to see fred score. its important to have numerous people that OL can count on to create goals.

Jean II Makoun
Monaco pushed us right to the end, but we were in it all together just like on Wednesday (against Bucharest). We showed that we have character , as we really wanted to put on a good show after the European game. We spoke a lot before the game and when we were on the pitch as well. It was good not to concede again. We’re playing well together, everyone is aware of that and it’s a good thing.

Claude Puel
I’m not more happy about this win than any other, but just as much. It’s good to keep winning afate the match against Bucharest. We were very strong and there was over an hour of very high quality play. At the end of the match the players were quite tired but they really wanted to do well. I want to congratulate the players. It’s never easy to keep everyone under pressure and give people enough playing time. In any case we’re feeling strong and the team spirit is great.

Fred
I’m happy to have scored tonight and that my goal gave us all three points. It will make us stronger for the next few matches. I’m also happy for Fabio (Santos) who finally got back out onto the pitch and for Chelito who played really well. I really want to stay at OL. I’ve spoken to the President and Bernard, I’m hoping to meet up with them in the coming weeks so that we can extend my contract. I want to score a lot of goals for OL.

Fabio Grosso
It was important to stay concentrated. We had to be god as we wanted to take all three points. It wasn’t easy as our opponents were very strong. We cannot focus on the teams that are behind us, we just have to concentrate on what we are doing. Right now, we’re thinking about the Coupe de la Ligue match against Metz.

couple of words from Grosso, Fred, Makoun and Puel

Yes Inara. OM is Champagne football, but they sometimes get drunk too easily.
I prefer to see our way of playing.

That's a great victory. Only 1/0 but important before playing Bordeaux and PSG in Ligue 1.

Did you see Ricardo's post match comments? That this Lyon isn't as strong as the one from the last ten years?

Umm, we are missing so many players, playing in so many games, and we are still winning! The bastard.

Anyway, yeah I'm not too concerned about Lyon's scraped by wins. I do wish we'd have more goalscorers. On one hand, I'm kind of jealous of Marseille's free scoring, they remind me of Lyon last season. But then again, the reason Lyon score less this year is because Puel wants more discipline (which is something OM don't really have). In the long run, Puel will probably be proven right.

I'm happy Sochaux won. They had played fairly good soccer so far this season and don't deserve the last position in the table. all the games they lost so far was only with 1 goal difference, which just shows they aren't overwhelmed.
It is only 1 win tonight, but I believe they'll end up in the top half of the table by the end of the season.

Lyon didn't play well, but hey when you play 3 times a week you can't ask for World level games everytime.
For me the best fact of the match is that Santos is back.

I just love this guy, he would be such a great option alongside Toulalan. He loves those drives going forward and is a real threat. Also he reminds me of Gattuso in the fact he never gives up on the ball player, once he chases you, either he gets the ball back or fouls you ;) Those kind of players are priceless in tough games.
