Lyon Continue Their Pillage of Lille
By: Inara | July 28th, 2008Just when Lille fans thought that Lyon was done plundering their club of their most valuable assets, it turns out that Lille’s club doctor, Emmanuel Ohrant, has decided to join Claude Puel’s staff.
Geez. Within one year, Lyon signed Lille’s three best players, stole their manager and his assistant, and now they take their chief doctor too! Who next? Their head gardener?
Lyon already have their own club doctor, Jean-Jacques Amprino, who’s been with the club for over a decade, and as far as I’m aware, he doesn’t look to be leaving anytime soon. But I guess Puel felt that at the rate OL players get injured, two doctors are necessary. Talk about getting a second opinion!

Duel of the Scalpels: Amprino vs. Ohrant
It’s also possible that Amprino will be retiring soon – the man is 60 years old. And with Puel on a long term “project,” I guess the club felt it prudent to bring in another doctor (who is much younger) while Amprino was still here in order to facilitate a smooth transition.
Or maybe Puel is firing Amprino. We’ll find out soon enough.
But man! Lille must hate us right now.

Staffing changes are usually a big deal, but the clubs medical staff is of little concern. Christ, Real still has doctors that Del Bosque brought in and a fitness trainer in Di Salvo that Capello brought in on a ludicrous contract which is why he hasnt been canned yet. No one likes him, but he is getting paid guarenteed millions for three or four years, its pathetic. Alright, enough with my rant. I heard Armand Garrido is planning to retire soon, he is probably the best youth coach we have, any thoughts on a possible replacement, like Patrick Paillot moving up or an outsider being brought on board?

The fact is they are mostly doctors or physiotherapists , and can get jobs at places other than football clubs.

Is Puel really trying to make Lyon like, the second Lille. This is oddly amusing.

All my family lives in Lille. That’s where I’m from. I’m a “ch’ti”, that’s how we are called.
You CANNOT imagine how much so beautiful products you can find out there !

Lyon’s cursed with injuries.

It’s the reason I wasn’t too thrilled with Mensah’s signing. He’s injury prone. Since coming to France, he has yet to play an entire season. He played an average of 25 league games/season at Rennes. I feel like Rennes got the deal of the century when they sold him to Lyon for such a sum of money.

Looks like Paillot will be farmed out again, he was not taken along with the rest of the squad for training. Grenoble probably. Also, it appears Puel is unconvinced of the “potential” of Clement Grenier, who was just awful against Partizan.

Rock of Gibraltar my ass. You’re no “rock” if you can only play half the games of a season.

Do not forget that Puel said that not coming to Divonne les Bains do not necesserally mean you won’t play with the pro during the season.

True Jo, but when Grenoble deperately wants the player I feel like it will happen, with Sandy realizing he will need more first team experience, especially if Bodmer is the #4 center back.
Not having Grenier in the first team wouldnt bother me, he is over hyped.
