Lyon could afford his transfer fee, but not his wages. Considering the fact that he feels like Chelsea isn’t paying him enough…Lyon could only afford like 1/10th his salary.

I dont see grosso coming, Chris summed up his qualities and he wouldnt do much if he didnt have someone to swap with like the Abilouda beast did for almost 3 years. Roma has the upper hand here cause italians are all emotional about rome being the eternal city and yadda yadda sex

chris is right about Grosso being better at going forward. The nicest thing I can say about his defending is that it’s ’sporadic’.

Grosso’s strong suit is definitely his off-the-ball runs. He can be a major thorn in the ass of his opponents with his consistent and opportunistic ability to pop-up all over the left flank. Unfortunately, he cancels this out with poor dribbling skill/technique (the odd nutmeg aside), which sees opponents easily close him down and 99% (an exaggeration) of his crosses harmlessly blocked. A shame too, since he has such a sweet left foot.

Overall, I suppose he’s worth the gamble if he fills a need and you’ve expendable cash, but keep in mind he has holes in his game (yet who doesn’t?) and he’s 30 in November.

I don’t know much about Armand but I can tell you Grosso is a high-quality player. He’s a pure wingback and he’s probably a better attacker than defender. Even though he’s not uber-fast he’s very tall for a WB and runs very smoothly and the long legs allow him to cover ground well. To say he looks like a gazelle isn’t a figure of speech, he really does. He can cross exceptionally well and if he makes his way onto the right, he has a very good shot with his left when cutting in (ask Germany). He’s better when there is a left-wing who can also defend because he pushes so far up and into the box. He and Perrotta were so great together because Simone can defend, from what you say about Ben Arfa’s defensive ability that left flank could be disastrous.

He had a poor year this year but that’s what happens at Inter. It’s where quality careers go to die.

That being said, it won’t happen. Everyone, even his agent, expects him to go home to Rome after Inter. He’s Romanista.

The hilarious thing about the Grosso situation is that Inter fans want the deal to go through. Has he been poor this season?

I’ve only see two Inter games all year, and I don’t remember how his performance was (if he even played), though I do remember him from the World Cup. But it’s stupid to judge a player based solely on his performance in a single tournament, so…how is Fabio Grosso as a player? And is he a better alternative to Armand?

The update is that Lyon have offered 6 million, not 9, though Aulas is ready to negotiate. No word yet on what Grosso has to say on the situation, though I’m expecting a “France? Are you fucking kidding me?” comment sometime soon.

Also, I agree with Chris, I can’t believe he was earning so little at Inter that Lyon are able to offer him twice his salary.

i begin to wonder if the plan is to buy a “not too good” player on the left side in order Ben Arfa feels he has a chance to obtain the starting spot, and in the same time have the assurance to have an experienced player for the Champions’ League (whereas B A is maybe still too young and tender for it)…
Or maybe it is beginning of the weird tranfers that Perrin likes so much to do…so Coach remembers that you are not the Manager, but that you are here solely to coach, the transfers let them to the real “home” expert : Nanard Lacombe, thanks Coach for your comprehension!
