ah yes Megame, nobody in their "right mind" would leave Lyon for Wigan, but let's not forget, Mensah's mental state is a little shaken up after spending time with the gendarmes... i would imagine that british authorities are a little more open to seeing people of african descent driving nice cars and mr. mensah might be thinking the same thing. i wouldn't blame him for making a decision like that. i'm not making any untoward suggestions about french police either, i've spent some time in france and my olive complexion draws more sideways glances there than it does here in toronto for sure.

for example, in canada we have many artists, scientists, professionals, and others of middle-eastern and south-asian descent who refuse to travel to the united states because of problems or hassle at the border (my gf is a phd student and was appalled by what her colleague, an iranian-born CANADIAN CITIZEN, had to go through when they went to a meeting in upstate new york this summer). sure, they lose out on some prestige if they abandon plans to attend a conference in california, but what they gain in dignity may be more worthwhile.

inara, i apologize if this post ends up blowing the thread to oblivion when people get upset. but it's true, and it's relevant to the mensah / BPL discussion i think. he definitely has the quality to be a premier-league player anyway. then again, so did Boumsong for a while... heh

Inara, this is cold news. He was interviewed by Sky sports about a week ago, mentioned that he eventually will end up in the EPL, and they made their headline with this, saying he wanted to leave Lyon for the EPL next summer. So he had to rectify in another interview that before such a move he wanted to win titles with Lyon..
Nothing really surprising as OL had to battle hard to deter him from going to the EPL, as Wigan, Pompey, west Ham, Blackburn were reportedly chasing him, and he mentioned several times he wanted to play in England, as the attacking football played in the EPL is a dream for a defender, that his family speaks English, that he wanted to follow his mate John Utaka, etc..

So, not much to worry about I think; this is a typical news "bubble" in my opinion... Especially now that he gets regular playing time in Ligue 1 with the French champion, and very probably tomorrow in the CL, who in their right mind would plan at that stage a move to Portsmouth or Wigan?

I FINALLY saw highlights. Mounier was amazing. It says a lot for Puel that he kept faith in him and kept playing Mounier despite his last couple games being subpar. In an interview Mounier said he wanted to leave Lyon this summer, but Puel convinced him to stay.

But I agree, I don’t think Mounier will start against Bayern. It will probably be Govou and Ederson on the wings. If Juninho is fit, it’ll probably be the usual 4-3-3/4-5-1, but if he isn’t, then he might go with a revamped 4-4-2 like what we saw against Nancy, except with Ederson back on the left and Govou on the right.

I don't really agree we play with 2 DM.
Makoun is more than a DM. He do great passes, and can build offenses.
Makoun / Toulalan just reminds me Diarra / Essien.
That was not so bad :)
To me, Pjanic and Mounier are not in competing. Pjanic is more a number 10 than a LW. I think Puel understood it.

it amazes me that with all our whining about defending situation, we conceded 3(!) goals in 7 games, just imagine how much better it'd be like when Grosso returns
