i watched what part of the match C+ put on the multiplex, while my son listened to hit&sport (with earphones as there was a significant gap) and what came out of it was while C+ was slagging off OL royally, the guys at H&S, who are surprisingly objective for locals, said they were playing very hard in a match with lots of engagement (sidney has the broken nose to prove it!) and were getting lots of movements and nice chances, and were accelerating the pace of the match practically at will and had nancy on the back foot and forced commit some pretty big fouls to keep afloat: they could have been playing at 10 or even 9 by HT.

coupet pulled off a great save, but branciliagno did more than one. govou's goal was 100% legit. and that own goal a) came on a foul to benzema that was 10cm away from being a penalty and b) was provoked by a juni FK that was diabolical.

all in all, OL deserved to win and played as spirited and solid a match as they have in over a month.

Why do I feel like all the immaturity that Perrin cites in Ben Arfa's play and character is non-existant? His dribbling is superb and so he holds on to the ball to often, of course. It is not a matter of maturity, more of playin experience. And he will never correct this issues without playing, so Perrin has made a stand against something that doesnt make sense and it will be the final nail in the coffin for him, Hatem must be playing week in week out if he is in good form, otherwise, the coach goes for benching him for not being 'mature'.

THanks for the link, Sika. Too bad I can only understand bits and pieces...hopefully someone who knows French can translate.

As for his books...I read somewhere that he really likes reading and enjoys culture. I hope that he doesn't turn into a Dhorasso though - too intellectual for his own good.

So I just watched highlights of the game. Coupet and Reveillere I thought were especially outstanding tonight. And Toulalan of course. But Coupet was terrific. He's shaken off his post injury jitters with some fine performances in the past few weeks. If this is an indication of Euro 2008, it's looking good for France.

But my favorite part of tonight's game, besides the winning part? The fight that broke out between the Lyon and Nancy players right near the end of the match. It's hilarious.

Ben Arfa got tackled by a Nancy player near the sidelines, and as he was getting up, two other Nancy players ran into him, one of them pushing him. That pissed off all the Lyon players, who started swarming around the Nancy players, and the coaches and the referees became involved as well, and even Clerc got up from the bench to shout at a bunch of people. But Ben Arfa, the guy who inadvertently started it all? He just calmly took the ball and walked away.

Ex-Lyonnais Jeremy CLement scored the goal that might be the difference between relegation and safety. And of course there was Yanis Tafer's brace in the U17s today.

It seems like OL players have been scoring everywhere except at Lyon!

It's sad that I'm so unsure whether Lyon can win games at the moment. And despite winning a couple of games - none of them have been convincing recently. Bordeaux are on a real roll as well at the moment - and it's good for French football to see another club striving. Laurent Blanc has instilled a real winning mentality there. Ederson scored a fanstastic goal for nice today

I know Lacazette doesn't have a pro deal, but I read that he has some kind of training contract, which is why the club wasn't in such a rush to sign him to a long term contract as they were with Grenier and Tafer, who weren't. I'll have to find that link again.

Lacazette does not have a pro-deal, but he just turned 16 so he is still very young, even for the u-17 level, while Reale and Faure will get a pro deal after the tournament most likely, both are good prospects. Allez Lyon on the win, I missed it but 3 points at this stage of the season are all that matters.
