coupet was great, vercoutre did a job that deserved our thanks, but he probably wouldn’t have stopped both of elmander’s late shots.

i feel “the don” has a good point; sure OL was still tabbed to win L1, but most observers felt they had been considerably weakened, wheras imho, (and that of angel marcos) they presently have their strongest squad EVER.

there was a plan anti-karim, that was clear, but as a plan it was in the image of its conceptor elie beauf: un peu simplet et beaucoup bourrin.

Yeah, I would play Coupet over Vercoutre, its just a shame he is now back on the bench, surely another Ligue 1 team beckons for him, he wasnt that bad. And Ronan, although Ekra and Lazacette are interesting players, their age dictates they wont be in the first team. Ekra may get an appearance towards the end of the year, but he has Barlet, Miguet and Baros in front of him still. Lazacette may well be the next Benzema, with Mathieu Salamand the next Ben Arfa.

Thanks for the highlights, lefutur. You saved me from having to search for them. And Jo, you bring up a very interesting point. I've noticed it too - the players are having so much fun out there. They are quite literally playing football. I love that. It's been a long time since I've seen that at Lyon.

I think another reason we can’t play Vercoutre anymore is because Coupet has to get back into form, and the only way he can do that is playing high level matches. Perhaps Vercoutre is in better form right now, but Coupet will eventually surpass him, and he has to do so before the match against MU. Still, it understandably sucks for Vercoutre, who’s played more in the last six months than in his entire career.

You said almost everything I had to say about this game.
Just wanna add that I’m allright about Ben Arfa, he did a great math BUT he did in a great part because of Benzema.
Toulouse players was always at least 3 around Benzema when Lyon had the ball. There was a plan “anti-bernzema”, because he scare everybody when he has the ball. So Hatem had some space to show us all his talent. He could do long long rush. I liked how he seemed to enjoy to play, that was refreshing. But he’s still sometimes a little bit selfish. I don’t worry, he will learn with playing games.
Lyon has his own Cristiano Ronaldo, and he’s younger. The Lyon / Manchester Game will be VERY interesting.

And for your information (you won’t be surprised), FRED has been whisttled by Gerland when the Gerland’s speaker announced the team line up.
Canal + said 2 hours ago that he probably won’t go to PSG, Tottenham made a very interesting bigger offer for him. I don’t know how much.

I’m happy, Mounier played well for a first appearance this season, but not long enough I really like him.

But there’s no way you would play Vercoutre over a fit Coupet right, for all that Vercoutre provided good cover he just doesn’t play at the same level. The banner was a nice touch though and its not the first time the fans have shown their appreciation for Vercoutre in this way, which is nice to see.

Lyon and JMA should start paying attension to our under-18 striker yann ekra-17, and higly talented un-17 alexandre lacazette-16 and chiaccio-lyon reserves, they are good players who cpuld turn to a new benzema,walcott and dos santos. (lacazette is very,very quick )

Ronan – Arsenal (or at least Wenger) also has an uncanny knack of selling players when they’re still very hot but just past their peak. Commercially its a priceless skill. Wenger is also great at standing behind his men. When Henry left he said he didn’t need another striker because he had all the skill he needed already – what a great moral boast to the younger guys and look how its paid off this season.
