New Lyon Kits

By: Inara | July 9th, 2007

Sam was right. Lyon’s new kits are ugly as hell.

Only Belhadj looks happy in the new kits.

Normally, I’m a big fan of Umbro, but their new template this year isn’t that great, and I was hoping that Lyon’s jerseys would be spared. Unfortunately, as evidenced by the away kit, it looks just like most other Umbro kits this season (especially West Ham’s…).

Speaking of the away kit, the horrible “Ticket Restaurant” is still there. I don’t mind the color so much, as it’s classier than yellow, but I wish it weren’t so…plain. The home kit is pretty much unchanged. The Europe kit is still black but looks more like the home kit, which is too bad because I thought Lyon’s black CL kit last year was by far the coolest.

It’s a sad, sad day when Lyon’s kits look better when they’re half concealed.

I don’t agree as much. I like the new “gold” jersey. The white is the same, I cannot see the difference, and I prefered the last year black shirt, but this one is not so far different.
That doesn’t make me sad. That’s cool :)

There’s something I forgot to tell and that you probably don’t know because all the pictures we can see on websites are full-face pictures.
There is a difference for the colour of the number and the player’s name.
That usually was in blue. Now, it’s in red. You will see on my video.

    Home kit unchanged
Gold kit quite cool! Way better than the red one.
    CL kit quite unchanged too.

Apart from the very regular design (compared to Adidas’ kits) I have to disagree here with you Inara but I kinda like them!

Too bad Novotel and Ticket Restaurants logos look ugly! I preferred Renault Trucks ones

I have to agree with the former post, I definitely prefer this gold/coffee colour than the red “tomato” one..it is definitely more class…
for the logos, unfortunately you don’t really choose, but I think that the Ticket Restaurant is less visible than on the former red kit, same thing on the black shirt, the white Novotel is not too bad…definitely the worst is this big blue box for Novotel on the White shorts…
Otherwise it is kind of suck that the UEFA kit’s reglementation (not killing) forbids OL to keep the lion on the shoulder, that was a nice touch!
There is no more the Jacquard effect on the black shirt: that’s also suck…
anyway the players are far more important than their shirts :)

If it weren’t for the sponsors, Lyon’s kits would be very classy. They are too busy, I think. I like the Novotel logo on the CL kit, as it’s subdued, but on the home kit it’s too eye catching. As for the away kit, the color is fine, but that ticket restaurant…But at least there is no white background on it like on last year’s away kit.

I agree with Mat, the Lion was nice. I am surprised that the club is not using it more prominently, it could seriously help the merchandising and give visibility to the club. Personnally, I am also longing for the double “V” in red and blue that was featured on the jerseys in early 90s (rings a bell, anybody), but all in all, I think it is nice they are introducing small changes each year as opposed to starting from scratch again. Ticket restaurant is a shame, but we are not attracting the O2 and the Siemens yet…

I know Lyon couldn’t use the lion in the CL because of uniform restrictions (UEFA specifies only one sponsor on the kit, only the club’s logo, and the kit maker’s logo, for a total of three. For Lyon that’s Novotel, the OL logo, and Umbro. So no lion.

I don’t think L1 has the same requirements, so I don’t know why it’s not on the home and away kits.

Okay, good. I like the lion.

I just wish we could get rid of the secondary sponsors. We almost look like Nancy.

basically, apart from Hartock, the four players are our last four recruits (except Grosso who arrived on the same day)
