Non-Update
By: Inara | August 19th, 2007I don’t feel like writing about Lorient’s 2 - 1 win over Lyon yesterday. Lyon played like crap whereas Lorient probably deserved to win by a bigger margin.
What Formula One car? More like a beat up Honda running out of gas.
A message for Alain Perrin: Remy Vercoutre sucks, Fabio Grosso needs to understand that he is a defender, and Juninho has to pull himself together. Thanks.

Grosso was terrible, besides the whole team being poor. And Vercoutre is no #1 GK, but the first goal was absolute class, Vahirua is under rated for his technical abilities, and he relly only ever scores incredible goals. A poor match that deserved a loss, not looking good right now.

I think Vahirua likes Lyon. Last year with Nice he scored a legendary goal steealing the ball from Juninho and finishing it off alone. It was great

I remember that goal. Vahirua is just great. If he could only increase his output…
Rooney who?

Can I just say I’m not exactly prepping a JMA love sonnet?
(But I’ll be dusting off the Totti #10)
(I’ll leave now)

Wait, the bet isn’t for this year. Just whoever wins the CL first - Roma or Lyon. I am still betting on Lyon, believe it or not. Next year they’ll finally have their shit together. I just know it.

I know, I’m just giving you a hard time.
But I know you saw yesterday’s game, the Aquilani - De Rossi partnership is scary good. And they’re both under 24.
Having their “shit together” wouldn’t be nearly enough if they came across Roma next year. We need to arrange for Roma-Lyon the rematch.

I don’t think we should be too hard on the team. I agree the game was not great, but let’s see the bright side:
-Benzema proved he was a class act with a killer instinct in front of the goal.
-The injured list is quite cataclysmic, and one day or the other, it will have to stop.
-Lyon has never experienced so many departures/arrivals for a long long time, with many key players leaving. The new guys are doing quite well under a new coach, with a new formation in 4-4-2. Considering the challenge, I think they fit in quite well. We have two trophies already (all right, the two crappiest of all the ones we could get this season, but still…)
-The Mercato is still going on, which is a bit unsettling. Wiltord seems to be going at last, so Fred can settle down and get down to work.
-I do agree on Vercoutre, though – he looks like he is not even trying to catch the ball at times. Can you see him facing Rooney and C.Ronaldo?
Still, 2 bad results and everybody is ready to quit?!? Come on, we will trash St-Etienne 3-0 and everybody will be back on track.Posted from

Was a poor game and we didnt deserve to win!
Benzema played well though which is a plus, could be a fantastic player.
As for Fred i hope he goes, he has made it crystal clear he wants to leave, and if i had the choice i would sell him and keep Wiltord!!!
JMA interview said he is meeting Perrin today and they are going to talk about the team and transfer targets one of which he said will defo be a striker!!!

It is stupid to be so rude with the team after two defeats in a row. Especially with so many injuries, and such a good preparations. Real fans are here to encourage when things go wrong. Of course not saying you are not a real one Inara, you are probably one of the greatest OL fans out there.
The formula one is still alive. Some pieces are waiting to be delivered, whereas some are being repaired. But as soon as the engineers make them work together correctly, the team will ROCK again. Wait & see!

Salieri, you are right. Two defeats don’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things, and I’m not really worried about losing six points. And given our injuries and new team/tactics, it’s not going to be a smooth ride from the beginning. But I don’t understand the apathy on the pitch. Lyon have been without passion for quite some time, as if they’ve all forgotten why they are playing. The players look like they are just doing a job out there, and that makes me sad. I will support OL no matter what, so that’s why I feel the disappoint so much more keenly.

Grosso made a defensive mistake, what a shocker. Maybe JMA should have watched some of Grosso’s games for Inter last year before he went all starry eyed at the chance of having an ‘06 WC on the roster. When I first heard the Grosso-Lyon rumours I dismissed it as silly journalist talk considering Lyon pretty much always do excellent signings, from midfield and down at any rate.

Eek, correction, “all starry eyed at the chance of having a ‘06 WC champion on the roster.”

Yeah, I don’t know what Aulas was thinking when he called Grosso an “upgrade” over Abidal. I myself would have preferred a defender’s defender, even one not as glamorous. And of course, Cris’s absence makes it much worse too.
