Guignol: my memory is atrocious and I don't remember if Boumsong could have cleared the ball through the side line. Anyway, I wouldn't have criticized him if he'd given up the corner. It was a difficult spot to be in and a tuff decision, of which he made a poor one. Otherwise he had a great game. I'm not a Boum-basher. I loved it when we got him from Juve.

Yes Guignol... but these two yellows are maybe what costs us the Nantes game on sunday instead of saturday like OL asked to the Ligue.
The Ligue said that the OL / Bayern game was not a "decisive" game (something stupid clearly), while OL do not agree. Sure it is. We know what happen when you face Man U in the round of 16...
But when 2 of your best players try to not play this game with having yellow cards, how could you convince anyone that Bayern is a very important game ?
Nevertheless, I prefer to not have Juni and Cris against Bayern and have them with a clean slate in the KO rounds.

due to days off and a busy return to duty i'm coming in shamefully late with a grain of salt, but i need to come to the defense of two of my lieblingsspieler...

BOUMSONG was solid and his one error came in a very difficult spot. if he had just put the ball out he'd be criticized for giving up the corner too easily.

GOVOU put in a very creditable effort in an inhabitual position on the left. he wasn't the only one tired at the end, and this was his first full 90' in a long time.

a last note about the two "biscottes"... at first glance they are about the two stupidest yellows imaginable, but look again: both players will now go into the KO rounds with a clean slate, and that's more important than them playing against bayern. what put a flea in my ear was cris taking that kick... he NEVER does that! but wasting a maximum of time and getting the yellow he WANTED was killing two birds with one stone. the next morning both juni and puel made statements vaguely confirming such suspicions... and they were both non-violent gestures: no one got hurt.

Funny how everytime we think: "Boy, now is the worst possible situation", a couple of weeks later we're proved wrong..
OK, the possibly good (OK, decent) news in this cloud of disasters is that Lyon are looking for a joker. Chimbonda (in tense terms with manager Roy Keane for repeatedly forgetting to show up on time at training) and also St Etienne's Mouhamadou Dabo seem to be potential targets, either for now or when the winter transfer window opens.
But it won't help for Bayern. Everyone seems to underestimate the importance of this game, but I really think being top of group would give more chances to a team that is still fragile (due to the future new addition and the come back of some players) to pass the next CL stage and reach the quarterfinals...

Yes, that's so great.
Benzema out for 3 games, Juninho suspended for 2 games, and Govou for one game.
If you add in the check list all the injured players, you can say that NOW we're going to see if we are really a big team :)
