Thats crazy man. Did you see Baros play at Portsmouth? He was absolutely dreadful. The problem with Piquionne is that he is now almost thirty and obviously not the same player, but in his day…wow! He was immpressive. Ask the St. Ettienne fans about wreaking havoc. The guy was always a threat and very overlooked by the national side. Regardless, he is still better than Baros and he should help Lyon.

Well, if he does “wreak havoc” he should learn to hit crosses and become a winger. We already have another “havoc wreaker,” in Keita who can’t score, but then again, that’s not his job. A striker must score, and neither Baros nor Piquionne are particularly great at that. Now, is it easier to score at Lyon, then Monaco with better midfielders/passers/assist setups, maybe. What were the conditions of both the players in terms of standing in their team, playing time etc…Alot of factors can be thrown in to make the comparison invalid. But my point was: Is Baros all that bad, or is he having a really dry spell as of late? Does he deserve the harsh criticism he recieves? And did Lyon get a better striker in terms of goal scoring potential? The stats say we got a lesser player. Anyway, it’s a mute point. Baros was leaving because both parties wanted out, and I think that Lyon could have gotten a better 3rd option than Piquionne.

Come on man that’s laughable. Milan Baros is terrible while Piquionne is an explosive player that wreaks all kinds of havoc even when he doesn’t score.

Hmm, I’d rather meet Bayern than Villareal and I’d rather meet Zenit than Celtic to be honest.

I think Oddo played a huge part in winning Milan the 2007 Champs League and he adds experience to the team. I personally think he can offer more than Revelliere, mainly more of a winning mentality.

I don’t mind Oddo on loan because if he sucks, we can always send him back. Plus that means Lyon aren’t solely responsible for his salary. I’m actually kind of glad to see an older player, our team is too young, and we could use the experience. Oddo is coming to us like Grosso did last season, we may hopefully see the same progression (though in Oddo’s case, I hope it comes a lot faster this time).

Still, I think this signing is totally out of left field. I’m surprised Oddo accepted it, I thought France was too “little” for him. He’s not going to be the starter, at least not until he proves he is better than Reveillere (which I don’t think he is).

I am getting really excited about the draw taking place today… Can’t wait to see who we will meet. Let’s just hope we won’t get Athletico Madrid in the 4th hat… I just want to have 1 easy team (AaB, BATE,…etc). Then Lyon will have to show they deserve to be in the last 16 against the other 2 teams.
When you look at it, Pot 3 may be easier for us than pot 4…
Worst draw possible : Lyon – Bayern – Zenit – Athletico
Best draw : Lyon – Werder Bremen – Basel – Famagusta

But anyway, whoever we meet, we have no excuse… we have to win all 6 matches.

Finally, Oddo will be in Lyon on Thursday. He has a financial detail to fix with Milan. That’s a shame, we lose one day, maybe he would have been ready for the derby.
That’s important because Grosso is suspended against St Etienne. We have no LB, except Kolodzieczak. But I cannot imagine him to start his pro career as a starter in the derby !
So I guess Reveillere or Boumsong will be our left back. And Gassama (or Reveillere, if Boumsong is the LB) will be our right back. So that could mean no CB on the bench, except the young Faure. What a crap !

Problems are already here… Oddo is really welcome.
Who said we have too much players ?!

Ush: I totaly agree that Baros is “tired” and God knows when he will score his next goal; wasn’t making a case for him over Piquionne. And you’re right: It’s impossible to get a quality, established striker to play #3 at Lyon.

john: To be honest I don’t know much about Piquionne. Read his stats, very unimpressive but Baros is definitely tried, tested and proven to be crocked! Very hard to get a quality striker to be third string at Lyon, so if he works hard he’ll be acceptable for now.

As for Oddo, anyone else thuper excited???haha. If Lyon don’t lose anyone between now and September I think that’s an awesome bout in the transfer market! I think our team should walk Ligue 1 and have a squad more than strong enough to challenge the best in Europe. If Keita,Delgado, Govou and Pranjic can help with a few goals along with Benz’s tally, not to mention Juni and Ederson, you’d be hard up to pick a stronger squad or starting eleven in Europe potentially!!!! Allez Lyonnais!!
