“Benzema is more mature than fred”.
    Who is not ?

I can add a sentence I heard yesterday, on “France2Foot”, the new french tv show, for ligue 1 and ligue 2.
The journalist said : “Now, the question for Olympique lyonnais is… How to play ? Alain Perrin seems to have chosen 4-4-3″

I’m ok with this man. Playing with 12 players will (for sure) help us to win against everybody !

Hahaha, this is true. We could afford to have Cris get a red card every game then. Anyways, the Fred thing doesnt look good, id venture the guess that he is staying in brazil til he feels he is healed. Lyon cant really do much to bring him back, so if he doesnt come back soon he will probably be cut. sucks cause then we seem desperate for a striker which means the price will go up, so id say buy a striker now, then see what Fred does, and either send him on loan to Azerbaijan or cancel his contract and let him play for Cruziero again, no offense Offside Cruzerio blogger.

Another quote I should have included: “Who am I afraid of this season? Not Lyon. I think they are not going to be as good. It has to happen one day.” – Djibril Cisse.

    Keep dreaming, Djibs.

“It has to happen one day.”

Normally I scoff at every argument that plays this tune, but I’ve got to admit I don’t think Lyon will be as good this season. Marseille will have a difficult time challenging for the title, but I don’t think they’ll have clinched it by October as usual.

And I’m even hating Lyon less now because of Grosso and you being a cool cat, Inara.

    Still, lateral move. Pfft. Hogwash.

Cisse has never proved to be a smart guy.
He also told he “aims to score 20 goals in Ligue 1 this season”. The next step will probably be Marseille winning the CL!

Chris: Yes and no. Lyon’s campaign next year won’t be as easy, and I don’t think we’ll get far in the CL, but in the long run, if we can avoid any major departures the following summer (with the exception of Kallstrom, who is sure to go), OL may surpass the 2004-2005 team, considered by many to be the strongest. Lyon gained at Tiago’s departure, since Bodmer is a better player. Abidal was a defensive machine but was as offensive as Coupet, whereas the new LBs aren’t that defensive but will offer the club more offensive options. Malouda’s loss is the biggest one, and I think it’s our left flank that will be the weakest link next year, but if Ben Arfa can grow up, then maybe it won’t be too bad. And who knows? Lyon still has time to get another LW.

Marseille was supposed to challenge the title last year too. They have a good team, but their problem is that they suffer the same level of drama as a Serie A club. That’s what always brings them down. Though I would welcome some domestic competition. Anything to make L1 a better place.

I think for most foreign players, Roma could be considered better than Lyon (like for Kallstrom, for example). But for a Frenchman, it’s still lateral all the way, baby. :P

Salieri: Yeah, I read that too. When was the last time anyone scored 20 goals in L1? Cisse is good but not that great, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as the top scorer next season.

Yeah, I see your point about the Frenchies at Lyon, they have like a 739% better chance of getting caps while at Lyon than anywhere else in Europe while Ray Ray is in charge.

As for Marseille, two words, one name: Samir Nasri.

Nasri…what a player. Too bad he won’t be in France after next year. Probably not Benzema either. They’ll both be in Spain. No wonder L1 can’t improve. *cries*

I see both at Madrid, its just the way the world works. Nasri is a definite. Benzema has never mentioned anything about Spain to my knowledge. I actually see him at Lyon for two more year, he has his head on straight. Milan will need a striker to play with Ronaldo next summer, that may be interesting, since Rickie Kaka just isnt a striker, but what he is is (doh) the bet attacking midfielder in the world. Anyways, expect to see Bodmer get called up finally, but we lost three French internationals and a Portugese. Oh, and Wiltord staying means we are not in the market for another striker. He will be #4, although i assume Fred is #4. And im glad, cause wiltord can do a job for us. Not turn tricks, but score some vital goals and provide pace and movement.

I have to say I like Cisse. He could have gone to clubs in the Premier League that would have paid him a higher salary but he chose to be loyal to OM and stay in L1. Sure, he’s no genius. Just look up the video of him getting punked on TV and you’ll see that for sure, but there’s something admirable about his desire to play for the fans and himself more than just the money. And if he says he’s gonna score 20 goals then he might just do it. He’s already got 4 in the preseason.

Jo: I’ll try not to break anymore hearts in the future, but with this Kallstrom thing slowly becoming a reality, I’m more pessimistic than ever.

Corey: I feel like Milan is loaded with strikers at the moment. Ronaldo, Pippp, Gila, Oliveira, and they are trying to get Sheva still. About Nino, yeah, I’m glad he’s staying. He works hard at practice and is a good teammate, so that’s what matters. Though Perrin made it clear that Govou and Keita are ahead in the pecking order, and that Remy is going to get time this season too.

Lefutur: Cisse does have a lot of good qualities, and like Alou Diarra, he is interested in more than getting a fat paycheck. But L1 being the way it is uber defensive, I don’t see anyone scoring 20+ goals. Granted, he scored four goals in preseason, but Kallstrom scored three goals, and we all know he isn’t going to hit more than five or six in the real season.

Milan actually does have alot of strikers, but only one scores goals. Inzaghi is useful but up there and this may be his last year. Gilardino, barring a miracle season, looks like a waste, and Olivera is at Zaragoza, while Sheva returning seems unlikely. Ronaldo plays a similar role to what Benzema wants to play, so that would mean learning from one of the greats. He would probably progress alot more but his playing time would be limited. The thing with players moving to Spain or Italy is they want to play against superior opposition every game. France does not possess the quality these leagues have, but are slowly improving. Lyon only can offer the CL, which is a minimum of 6 games a year, Benzema will progree to a point in France and then will have to move on. I feel like Ben Arfa has hit the ceiling in France too which means he might further his career somewhere else too unfortunately.

Corey, I agree that our young talents will eventually have to leave. Benzema has a way to go before he hits his ceiling, and with Ben Arfa, it’s hard to tell. Houllier ruined him, so let’s see how he does under Perrin.

Jo, Corey and I were talking about AC Milan and how they may or may not need another striker (they might try to poach Benzema from us…scary thought).

Yeah, I think the worst thing that could have happened to us is when Le Guen left (pretty bad that he left already) that we got Ged. I think he set us back 4 years. Perrin we will see, but Le Guen was the young coach with all the right moves and the players confidence. He was the guy to the lead us to the CL crown. Now I dont see that happening, no matter how hard Perrin trys, he has to pick up Geds pieces first. My ideal man would be Claud Puel, he has that something that we need.
