Simao to replace Malouda? LOL.

MALOUDA EAGER FOR SWITCH TO LIVERPOOL
“…The £8million-rated Lyon midfielder looks bound for Anfield in the next week after the French club agreed a similar fee with Benfica for former Liverpool target Simao Sabrosa to replace him….”
Couldn’t they at least try to write up believable rumors? As if Simao, captain of Benfica and Portuguese NT stalwart, would come to Ligue 1.
Leaving Benfica for Lyon doesn’t make much sense. I mean, we can’t even hang onto Tiago!
And has anyone else noticed that British tabloids can’t seem to keep Malouda’s price straight? Each paper reports a different fee. So far I’ve seen everything between £8-17 million. I sincerely hope the paper that reports the highest fee is the authentic one.

Yeah… before I start to believe rumors of Florent Malouda, Samuel Eto’o, Thierry Henry and Jesus of Nazareth all coming to Anfield, I’m going to need to see some evidence beyond the, shall we say, “creative” writings of the British tabloids.

I know Lyon won’t receive the 25 million that Aulas is asking (Diarra left at 26), but I’ll be pissed if he leaves for less than 18.
And here’s one for laughs: Barca offered nine million to Lyon for Abidal. Hahahaha. Lyon bought Abidal at ten million!
Oh, and here is another source talking about the Simao to Lyon situation. It’s interesting, Benfica and Lyon agreed to terms. But there’s no mention that the player agreed, and I don’t really see it happening.

Abidal wont leave if the transfer fee isnt high enough Aulas is not an idiot. Malouda wont leave for that reason as well. Its funny how Kader Keita, who has had one good season in the CL is worth 22 million and Malouda, a CL performer for 4 years, a starter for the French National team and Frances player of the year is worth 8. The english media is so ignorant, to say that Nigel Reo-Coker is worth more then Malouda is absolutely ludicrous, but thats the english dominated football media.

Malouda for Simao?
As if Liverpool needs more stars on their team, let alone midfielders. Craig Bellemy will stay for a while, and England is in love with Crouch, so a backup might be needed for them. As for da midfield, they can’t play players like Harry Kewell and Bolo Zenden, so why more? With Gonzalez and Pennant on the right and left, and Xabi Alonso and Steven Gerrad (and sometimes Josemi, they cant fit any more central midfield.Posted from

USA: I see your point, but who knows what Rafa is thinking? Though I was under the impression that Zenden would probably be on his way out of the club. As for Kewell, he’s injured like 50% of the time.
Liverpool does need a left winger. I’m not sure exactly who is Rafa’s target - both Simao and Malouda will cost a lot of money.

Well yes, we dont know half the time what the EPL managers are thinking about, but how much can they spend? Look at this: Manchester United needs to be stopped, and they find a way to score without the common forward pair. Look at the forwards for Man Utd., they have Henrik Larsson, who has Zlatan Ibrahamovic with him in the Sweden National Team, who is tall. Wayne Rooney has Peter Crouch in the English National Team who is a giant, and as for Louis Saha, he finds ways to score goals. So the only thing that Liverpool should really buy for is defenders because Sammi Hypia is 30+, Steve Finnan and Jamie Carragher aren’t getting younger, and Danny Agger? While Chelsea is signing Ben Haim, Liverpool is bidding for Malouda?

I was under the impression that Rafa is also pursuing Gabriel Milito for defense? I’m sure he’ll get a few transfers in, except Liverpool has always been slower than the other teams to get their business done (they should look into some better negotiators).
As for why he’s getting a LW - Liverpool has no width and could really use some speed - and maturity down that left flank. Hence why Kewell isn’t good enough. And Pennant plays on the right, doesn’t he?
I wouldn’t worry, I’m sure Rafa will eventually get all his targets, both offensive and defensive. He tends to be a pretty good judge of talent.

Yes, true that Rafa can find the unpolished diamond and turn him into a jewel. But what happened to Mark Gonzalez on the left, he was producing goals and was an amazing talent. Unless he’s like the other underated players in my list (Maniche, Park Ji Sung, Didier Drogba). Please tell if you have any more underated players.

Didier Drogba is definitely not underrated. He was like five years ago, but I don’t think there’s a person on the planet who would deny how good of a striker he is, and how vital he is to Chelsea.
There are tons of underrated players everywhere, especially in underrated leagues like Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga. On Lyon, I’d argue that Squillaci is very underrated, and if Rafa could look beyond Malouda for five seconds, he’d see the perfect solution to his defensive crisis (I think Squillaci is a better CB than Cris, and Cris is one of the best CBs in Europe).

I dont know if Benetiz will actually go for defense, as much as he needs it. Targeting Malouda isn’t going in the right direction. Speaking of Chelsea, why bring in Santa Cruz, when you have Drogba, Kalou, and Shevchenko?
