Sneak Peak Benzema Screenshots from FIFA 09

By: Inara | August 4th, 2008

I already posted about how Karim Benzema’s face will be gracing the cover of the eagerly anticipated FIFA 09 video game (he and Wayne Rooney will apparently be on the European covers, with Franck Ribery as the “main” guy who appears worldwide).

My question is, why does Benzema look different in every picture? I’m not a gamer, so I’m curious. Does it depend on what platform? Do players age as the season goes on? Or do they get makeovers within games?

The most realistic looking Benzema of the bunch. Pretty sweet, huh?

Benzema has now regressed to the age he was three years ago.

This is Benzema going through his “I wanna be just like Cris” phase.

yes, the newer systems make him look more realistic. the older ones just have a generic face, his name, and a number.

in the third picture btw, its cris and not a lookalike version of benzema ^^
as i fifa player i can only hope they finaly make benzema a worthy striker, so far even kallstrom bodmer and juninho perform better as strikers :p

i hear his rating went up a bunch in one of the updates but yeah, i still have trouble using him to score and yesterday i scored a hattrick with Govou. :/

another dumb thing with fifa since like forever is that for some reason Juninho is FAR better playing as a winger rather than an inner midfiller
and in fifa 07 fred was left legged and now they changed it to right.
malouda used to pretty much a god in fifa 07, kieta just doesn’t fit in his shoes ^^

random passanger: I thought it was Cris at first too, but then the shoes and the black and white wristbands are what Benzema wears, not only in the other screenshot but also what he wore earlier in the season.

lefutur: any game that has Govou scoring hattricks sounds shady to me.

I played FIFA once in my life at a friend’s house with Lyon. I lost 6-1 to Troyes. That was the beginning and end of my video gaming career.

I think I’ll stick to my FIFA Manager.

And the day Karim grows hair is the day I’ll rejoice for the end of his terrible hair decisions.

for what it’s worth, the french tv commercial for FIFA09 was shot last week in the neighborhood next to mine (called “les etats-unis”, i kid you not), with ribéry and benzema huge crowds.

Cool Guig. I love October, because FIFA comes out, as does Football Manager and FIFA Manager, and I lock myself in my bedroom on weekends playing until my eyes start to bleed. Its great.

damn, im away for 5 days….just five days, and so much happened, especially with the Bordeaux game. i’ll try to get back to my regular posting ways.

P.S. the benzema pics look awesome, hopefully there are no game cover curses for Fifa like there is for Madden……that would be terrible.

looks like lyon is interested in a young brazilian striker, they offered 7 millions to his club. If this is anything more than a backup plan Piquionne’s transfer it doesnt make sense. i’m all about paying exaggerated amount of money for young, unproved players from south america but why the hell not look for someone we actually need like a left back?

since this is a game thread, may i point out that on bigsoccer there’s a sort of fantasy league http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=725532 which requires very little of your time, has an interesting and novel format, and needs 8 more participants?

    thank you.

Some spanish newspaper supposedly reported that lyon are still interested. He might be cheap but i dont see the point in bringing him, you are a fan Ronan?

Ronan: Isn’t Garcia more of a right-winger? I can’t imagine him coming unless Fred is leaving, if he’s being brought in as a striker. And Yepes is training in Colombia. I imagine he could be picked up for cheap. Don’t seem to be any takers.
