Funny you should mention that Ronald. Apparently Domenech was at the velodrome last Sunday. He’s probably glad that Toulalan is out for the next couple of weeks. At least he’ll be well rested for the Euros.

I was thinking the exact same thing, lol.
From the NT point of view, I also feel bad for Bodmer, whose chances of being selected for the Euros are a lot dimmer now--I mean, it's not as if they were all that high to begin with, but I was hoping Domenech would at least give him another look, he and Nasri being the only playmaker-types we have available currently, iirc.

It's a mission impossible of course, but it's nice to see someone from the league actually trying to poach a Lyon player instead of the other way around. Go get'em Pape.

Ronald.

Its a good analogy you made JO. Basically with toulalan out, its was just a matter a time when marseille counter attacked and scored. The only reason we got a goal scored is because of Juninho, other than that Keita was smothered for most parts of the game as he was the only person on the pitch ( besides ben arfa maybe ) who had the ability to make a difference.

Even though it was a tough game, it isnt time to panic. IF we lose the next game..........then, its time to panic.

As I said to my friend at half time :
"If we win the game, it's just a miracle".

We played almost all the game without 4 players of our type squad : Benzema, Cris, Toulalan and Fred !
The only type of player we had not on the bench for this game was : a real striker and a DM.
Guess who get injured ? Our striker and our DM.
Plus Marseille was on fire.
That was nearly impossible.

I just want to notice, and I think it's a very important detail, that Marseille scored twice as we were 10 against 11.
Fred was out when Cisse scored, and he was on the pitch but lyed down, waiting for a sub, when Niang scored.

That's surely the fact of the game.

Nasri did an ugly game for the 15th minutes, because Toulalan was here to stick him. And Jeremy did well.
But when Toulalan was out, Nasri could go where he wanted to, and he did a fabulous game.
Grosso is really NOT the defender we need. The two goals in the half time came from right wing, with a LOOOOT of space for Marseille...
Don't forget Toulalan is very often on our left side to "help" Grosso.
Today he was not. Marseille scored twice.

And for the corner, I think it's an huge mistake to let Kallstrom on a face to face with Niang. But we didn't have so much defenders at this time of the party...

If you consider that Grosso and Clerc are often making runs on the wing, and that Kallstrom, Bodmer and Juninho are offensive players, you realize that we had only 2 real and pure back players on the pitch : Boumsong and Scquillaci.

That was impossible.

i made a mistake in my last post. I meant to say that Toulalan SHOULD sit out the remainder of the season if hes really out for four weeks ( to prevent him from re-injruing it and not playing in the EURO )

Heard tonight the only good news of the week, on french radio RTL: Cris declaring 1)he was sick in the last couple of days but is now fit, and 2) he seems himself stay at Lyon until the end of his career.
(I just hope Perrin doesn't emulate him)
OK, the level of insecurity experienced by Brasilian players plays a role in this statement, but he sees with Juni how well we treat our beloved Lideres Brasileiros...

Toulalan's absence will force Perrin to do some creative thinking. If Muller were healthy, he could be deployed as an emergency DM, but he's not, and I don't believe we have anyone among the senior players who could take his place effectively. Bodmer was a DMish type player at Lille, but he played next to Makoun. We have Crosas, who was trained as a "4" but seems better in a higher position on the pitch. There is Beynie, who hasn't played for the senior team since 2004.

As Ronald says, with his two best players out, Perrin is going to finally show us what kind of coach he is. It's up to him now.

Let's not be unfair to Boumsong : he got good ratings because he had a good game. Until now he's been a good surprise, he's not a leader like Cris but a solid, experienced defender (and faster than I expected).
