I like the way it is now. We get bombarded by the transfer market but as soon as the new season gets underway, we start punching above our weight.

I think one of the reasons that Lyon get bombarded by the transfer market the most is that it’s still not a European giant that is able to fend off high money transfers or inspire undying loyalty in all their best players.

Lyon is one of the few clubs with so many quality players that are so consistently underrated, which is why many of them seek better pastures abroad.

As long as Lyon plays in France, or until they win the CL, it will always be like this, I’m afraid.

Or…if Lyon is taken over by a billionaire. But I hope not.

Great post. Let the transfer speculation begin. If you think it is frustrating for a Lyon fan imagine supporting the clubs that finish behind them every year. They see the Lyon players coming and going, think they have a shot, and then end up 20 points behind them at the end.

Coupet is the one I am most intrigued by. Your analysis is spot on.
