WEEKLY TRANSFER ROUND-UP
By: John | June 18th, 2009
Three Possible New-Comers to Gerland This Season.
I’m planning to do one of these at the end of every week to sum-up the concrete, as well as all the crap rumors out there concerning Lyon. So here we go:
Possible Ins:
Lisandro Lopez: Negotiations for the Argentine International are still on-going, much to most of our relief, after the Aly Cissokho debacle. If reports are correct that Lopez has agreed on the transfer, then all that’s needed now is for Porto and JMA to come to an agreement on the transfer fee, reported to be set by Porto at 22 mill. Aulas is said to be nearer 18 mill. According to Lisandro’s agent, Fernando Hidalgo, it’s all down to Porto and OL agreeing on the price. Anyway, since no other clubs seem to be in the mix- except for that absurd Real Madrid rumor- hopefully it will get done soon.
Sylvain Armand: With the Cissokho deal collapsing and Fabio Grosso not knowing if he’s coming or going- although Juventus is said to be hot for him after his performance at the Confederations Cup- OL may be starting-up the flirting game with there old flame Armand; maybe.
Patrick Viera: Aulas confirmed in an interview that OL has indeed been in contact with the aging captain. Could be headed this way if a deal for Ederson happens or purchased.
Amantino Mancini: No news, but also maybe part of deal seeing Ederson going the other way to Inter.
Nicolas Burdisso: Same as Mancini.
Drenthe: My boy, Royston Ricky Drenthe. A long shot, but JMA did mention him in an interview along with other possible players that OL were looking into, probably just window dressing, but let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Loic Remy: See Anthony Mounier Below.
Possible Out:
Ederson: I was hoping this was just utter rubbish, but things have heated up recently with JMA stating to the press that he neither confirmed nor denied the rumor. Because of OL’s interest in three surely out-going Inter players- Mancini, Nicolas Burdisso, and Patrick Viera- this rumor seems to “have teeth,” and big ones at that. OL have proclaimed interest in Mancini and Burdisso for several seasons now, and with the possible signing of an international calibre striker who will surely be pairing up with Karim in a 4-4-2, Mancini becomes a real necessity- well, he’s a necessity with any other formation- to fill the vacancy on the left side of the offense, and even play in the hole if Ederson does go the other way. Burdisso and Viera are excess requirements but I feel it in my bones that management is about to do something foolish in regards to these two, so we’ll see.
Sidney Govou: Rumored that Fiorentina are interested, but no contact has been made.
Abdul Kader Keita: I’ve only seen one report of Keita supposedly being looked-at by Everton, but it would be an early Christmas gift it were true. Keita apparently has no interest in playing for club anymore, so if anyone were willing to take him, at even a fraction of his purchase price, I’d think we’d all readily welcome such a move.
Anthony Mounier: It seems that negotiations for Mounier with Nice have reached an impasse and my not happen. After club chairman Maurice Cohen declared Loic Remy “untransferable” last week, OL refused to set a price on Mounier and indeed seemed to back out of the negotiations, leading Cohen to declare that the Anthony’s transfer may not happen and that if pressed to make a decision between Remy and Mounier, they’ll keep Remy; tough choice huh? Anyway, as I understand it, OL tabled a bid of 15 mill for Remy- almost twice what Nice paid- but Cohen rubuffed the offer, emphatically stating that Remy won’t be going anywhere this summer.
I started reading some of the French blogs, and what I understood was that that supposed buy-back clause OL put in Remy’s sale contract was for the right for Lyon to match any offers by other clubs in the event of Remy’s sale. So, if this is true, and seems so, then OL might just have to wait till Nice sell him, proabably next year, Cohen surely hoping the price will be closer to 20 mill by then- although highly doubtful. This sale made no sense unless it was part of a deal to secure Hugo Lloris: it seemed like basically a swap since their sales prices only differed by about a million Euro or so. Regardless, Remy coming back this season is looking very unlikely and I guess we’ll have to wait to match Arsenal’s or some other team’s offer in the future.

Ooo how we are stupid club. I mean Lisandro says that he want play for Lyon, but Aulas won’t give fucking 3mil more. Sorry for bad language, but that is true.

Fuck,I swear Milan want every player we want. First they were linked with Lopez, then Cissokho and now Andre Santos.

Ronan : Milan is not problem. Aulas and his stupid politic are problem. Lisandro want to came, but Aulas dont want to give 3mil more. Same problem with Bastos, who also expres his sesire to came in Lyon, but Aulas dont want contact him.

well I was more referring to them hijacking are deal for Santos-he is a good Brazil NT LB,a good player. Im not that dissapointed with are failure for Lisandro, afterall as Lyon fans its what you come to expect, although its not every day a ligue 1 club has the oppertunity to sign IMO one of the worlds top 20 strikers-but I knew it was to good to be true a week ago-and I was right managemant has bottled it at the business end I dont see the problem-I mean what else are we going to get with that 4/5mill differance.

What baffles me is that Lyon simply wont get there hands on a better striker than Lopez, whoever else we sign for ST(if anyone)wont be as good as Lisandro Lopez-fact.So Aulas isnt prepared to pay the money for a genuine quality player, and then I look at when he has paid over the odds for players who wernt worth it,Keita-18mill(not much less than Lisandro price)Makoun-13mill,Mensah-8mill. All players who really should have gone for about half that price-so for them he paid over the odds,so I would like to ask him why he wont pay slightly over value for a genuine talent, who will come here and score 20 goals+.??.

this is a post i read in the Lyon forums on bigsoccer.com
“Andre Santos is joining from Corinthians. He’s a 26 year old left-back and he’s been capped twice by Brazil. About £4 million, the deal has already been done, so it will be announced tomorrow or in a couple of days”

John- I read that Sevilla are prepared to offer players Abdoulaye Konko,Mosquera and Alfaro, although I dont know if thats all three of them or just one or the other.Squillaci is unlikely to come back but yer theres quite a few players in seville Id like here, because with Toul we can afford just to get a cheaper DM.I hope Andre Santos comes,it will be nice to have a selecao in the team.

Yeah, I just meant players that would be worth Makoun, not the ones they are eager to get rid of.

reports say Lyon have upped there bid for Lisandro to 15mill,which again is unlikely to be accepted, seeing as apparently they want 20mill

Well, Porto is well-known to sell his players at the price he wants for them. So Aulas may be caught at his own game there.
When I used to live in England, both Lyon and Porto were seen as big potential clubs with lots of worthy players to buy from, but they always said the management of those two clubs were very hard in business.

Hilarious, I just read Marseille were on the verge of signing Lisandro… Can you imagine if we don’t get him because of not wanting to put the money. For the first time, I would be ashamed of the management if that was the case.

Well Mraseille have basically wrapped up Servet, close to Lucho Gonzalez(great signing for them)so if there were anytruth to them signing Lisandro, that would see them lift ligue 1 this year for sure.Shit potentially Marseilles team is good
Mandanda
Bonnart-Servet-Hilton-Taiwo
Lucho-Cana-Cheyrou
BenArfa
Brandao Lisandro/?certainly better than are team, thats for sure.

I think managemant should have signed Savidan for 4mill and have him with Benzema and Lisandro/?

Looking back at this just makes me think Aulas should be a stand up comedian,I like the “at any cost” bit, uummm strange because I dont remember that stance for signing Lisandro Lopez,or anyone else for that matter.

Grosso in Juve, 90% transfer finished. But if we sell Grosso, who will be our left back??? I hope that we will buy Lisandro because we desperate need quality striker. And for Keita, i think that Lyon cannot sell him, because we cannot affor mistake like mistake with Fred. We buy Fred for 15mil, sold him for 3,5. We pay Keita 18mil, who will pay 18mil or more for him??? For Keita we can get 8-10mil, maybe.

Ronan, I think if management had signed Savidan this week, they would definately abandon the Lisandro deal, and just stay with Steve.
As for Keita, I think he’s like a stock/share: his valued will continue to drop and you just have to take the hit and sell him while you can. I guess it doesn’t matter. We could just keep him as #3 RWF in case we have a massive injury crisis at that position.Posted from

Im hoping Andre Santos is are new LB this season, the thing Ive noticed about
this mercato is that every single player we want is being linked somewhere else, which makes it frustrating because you find one player you think yer he could be a good buy and then an hour later some other club wants him (AC Milan in are case)It is foolish if we dont sign Lopez because everybody knows he will come and do good things here, spending the money for me isnt a gamble at all,he has been great at Porto in the portuguese league and crucially the CL-14 goals, which shows he copes with the best defenders. It would definately be a mistake if Aulas doesnt pick him up for the sake of 5mill differance in value.I thought signing Savidan would be good, but absolutely on the conditions we sign someone else as well for ST,Savidan would have been good last season instead of PiquionnePosted from

If we had Savidan as a substitute for us that would be good. For a club thinks about money all the time this would present very good business. Reports were in January we offered 13mill plus Piq for Savidan-five months down the line, and with Savidan having done well since-getting him for 4-5mill seems like great business to me. Apparently Grosso-Camoranesi is on the cards, but Camoranesi is a RW,and for now LW is the priority in that department-besides Camo would most probably wouldnt want Lyon now,and he is a player who has been on the decline for about two years now. But I reckon he could help us so ID rather have Camoranesi than the cash for Grosso.Oh and for Keita we defo wouldnt get 8-10 mill,Id say 3-5mill/Bosman.Bar his few goals, and couple of impressive cameos, for the last two years hes been anonymous, however in him somehwhere still lies a quality player-but where nobody knows.

If this is true then we are just thick,or the club is seriously, seriously tight with money.
http://www.ligue1.com/ligue1/lireArticle.asp?origine=RSS&idArticle=13504
100 million euros to potentially spend ?This makes not signing Lisandro and co sound even more stupid. Fair enough if he cost 20mill and we had 30 to spend, but if we signed Lisandro for 20 we could afford another 8 good players, this is silly,we have all that money but are not prepared to pay some minor fees ie for players under 10mill.

If you do have that much money to throw around, it seems oftly stupid letting everyone know your awash with cash. When you bargin, you want to make the seller think you’re tight on money, not that you have money to throw away: he’ll never come down on the asking price. Is JMA on drugs?
And I think Savidan is steal at 4mill. We spent more on Piquionne!!! We could then focus on getting a good left winger as well as a LB and go for a big time striker next season with the cash from Karim, but I don’t think we’ll get another chance like Lisandro, because even though the price is hefty for a player with one year left on his contract, no other team seems to be in the running.Posted from
Costa Rica

Anyway if lisandro doesnt sign an extension,he is obviously going to be a free agent,so he wont choose Lyon then-and well miss out, although I thought his contract expired in 2011. Yer we cant miss the oppertunity as I said before for a club of our stature we wont sign a better striker than him,and seeing as he wants to come,Porto want to do business and we want him-we just have to make an effort,Id like Savidan definately to have a trio of forwards-so Id want some one else with him,but cheaper than Lopez maybe like Pogrebnyak.
