What is this HIDEOUS creature?
By: Inara | August 27th, 2008If you’re like me, you might have been wondering why there was a strange beast wandering around the pitch at the end of the Grenoble game. Since I have nothing better to do as I bide my time waiting for Massimo Oddo to complete his loan move to Lyon and for the Champions League draw to take place, I did some investigating. It turns out that he was actually paid asked to be there.

Say hello to our new mascot, “Lyou” aka Eww.
I’m not sure why Aulas decided that Lyon needed a mascot - most French teams don’t have them, and for good reason too. They are incredibly cheesy. But I guess Aulas felt that “big” teams had mascots (except they don’t), so that’s why Lyon have one this season. Still, couldn’t Lyon have come up with something better than Lyou? They could have at least made him a real lion, as opposed to some weird red headed cat that looks like he lost his way to a family reunion with Flix and Trix.
ALSO, please stop by and visit the Offside and World Cup Blog’s Official Forums. Finally, there is a centralized location for chatter for all the blogs. Only a handful of team forums are up so far, but thankfully Lyon is one of them. There is also a General Ligue 1 forum and a Les Bleus forum. If you want to participate, just register (it takes a second), and then start posting/starting topics, etc.

I don’t know which one is worse, Oddo to Lyon or that mascot. Excuse while I hide in my corner to cry.

(but, other than my blatant dislike of the Milanese, Oddo is a fantastic and dependable player. And he’s also pretty.)

i thought JMA was worried about not spending unneeded money…
why pay a new guy dress up as a cat when you got Boumsong who just sits there and does nothing, let him be the cat!Posted from

It appears that bayern has stepped in at the last minute for Oddo, and he would prefer to go there than lyon.

Wow if we lose out to Bayern, when Oddo was supposed to be an under the wraps sort of signing, it makes me so sad. But I guess he has more of a starting spot at Bayern, he’ll get paid more money, and it’s a bigger club.

Ok, so this is what apparently happened with the Oddo signing. Lyon and Milan came to an agreement, but Oddo was wanted more money than what he was currently earning in Milan (2.25m/year). That’s why negotiations stalled. Bayern came in and offered more than what Lyon did, so Oddo made the economic choice.

Oddo isnt any good anyways.

Lyou was probably designed for the kids (small ones). Something for them to watch while the grown ups are screaming.

Isn’t the transfer deadline soon also?…like a week? Nice move Aulas.

Lyou is the main attraction of Aulas’ marketing team latest invention, OL kids. I have to say it’s a more convincing use of OL Brand than OL Taxis or, worse, OL Hairdresser.
Regarding the transfer deadline, it is on monday september 1st at midnight (OK, technically, that’s tuesday).
That leaves a couple of days to buy a kid branded as future talent or a pre-retired mercenary who had decent spells 3 years ago…
Sarcastic, me? Why would I be?Posted from

Supposedly, lyon are following Seitaridis from Atletico Madrid now that the Oddo deal is screwed: I’m glad Aulas won’t give up on adding one new right back.

not the group of death, its not even as difficult as it seems, but considering the alternatives its rather hard yeah.
bayern will be tough, but we are (on paper) far better than fiorentina.
sucks being bukarest

Do you think Aulas is interested in buying Seitaridis just to weaken Athletico so that Marseille has a better chance in the group stage??? No, he wouldn’t go that far would he???
