Maybe Lyon do have a chance at signing Hugo Lloris after all…
By: Inara | March 7th, 2008
You guys must all know that I have a serious crush on Nice’s Hugo Lloris. I’d welcome him at Lyon eight days a week, no questions asked. With Gregory Coupet in the twilight years of his career, Lyon need to get a new goalkeeper fast (because let’s face it, Remy Vercoutre just isn’t good enough).
Lloris’s contract is ending in 2009, and unfortunately for Nice, Lloris doesn’t want to extend, so they have to sell him this summer to cash out. Lyon have had their eyes on this situation for a while, but the problem is that we aren’t the only club interested. Arsenal, Espanyol (like they have a chance), and the biggest suitor of all, AC Milan, are also admirers of Lloris.
I have no illusions. Of course he’d pick Milan over Lyon, especially since he’d probably get to start at there (but not at Arsenal, since Manuel Almunia is doing a pretty good job there). Still, there is the off chance that Lloris would be stricken by the plight of Yoann Gourcuff, as well as the fact that Sebastien Frey isn’t getting any love by Domenech.
But today, Chris over at the Italy (and Roma) Offside has given me some hope by posting a video of Lloris and his BFF Ederson in bed together - shirtless - as they watch Shrek. Hey, if they’re happy together…
…come to Lyon, Hugo! Then you can see Ederson anytime you want!

GOOD TEAM CHEMISTRY DOES NOT MEAN SLEEPING WITH YOUR TEAMMATES. DID YOU HEAR ME EDERSON?!

Guys, you don’t know how tempted I was to write, “Then you can sleep with Ederson anytime you want.” It seemed pretty apt after watching the video. But in the really really really really off chance that Hugo’s agent reads this blog, I thought that it would be best to keep the innuendo to a minimum…until after he signs for Lyon of course.

Last year, Coupet told he wanted to play until 2010 to participate to the World Cup.
Now, it is obvious that he won’t be the goal keeper n°1 in 2010, since Mandanda ans LLoris will fight for the spot.So I guess Coupet will fly to the US sooner than expected, then maybe we can buy Lloris and maybe loan him for one season… especially since our goal keepers n°2, 3 and 4 will end their contract this season.

One more thing, I’m sure that Lyon paying the huge sum of €14m for Ederson, loaning him for the rest of the season, has something to deal with a future recruitment of LLoris.
Lyon would have in a way put an option on Hugo.Posted from

Oh Salieri ! I didn’t think of that, but you are certainly right !!!
That would be a sooo great idea, from Aulas. He’s really good !

Lyon did pay way over the selling price for Ederson. Rival bids were only up to 12m (his release clause), but Lyon paid an extra 2 million and let him stay for an extra six months. Pretty generous for one of the shrewdness men in football.
I hope you guys are right. Maybe a release clause.
